You Had Me At Hello...

Chapter 5 ~ Lights out

We head to his dorm from the beach and as soon as we step into the dorm we start making out profusely. It was so intense that I pushed him down onto the couch and sat on his lap while kissing him. But then suddenly... the lights go out. We weren't alarmed at first and we continue to kiss. But then we hear gun shots. I try to run out of his dorm to my dorm to check on Marie but Jake wouldn't let me.
He yells "NO LUNA YOU CAN'T IT'S TOO RISKY"
I yell back "THIS IS A RISK I'M WILLING TO TAKE JAKE, ARE YOU GOING OR NOT."
He nods and asks "Should we take anything for protection?"
I ask "Do you have a gun?"
He runs to his room and grabs a gun, I grab a kitchen knife and my bookbag. We run to the other side of the dorms and into my dorm. The door was open. I hesitate walking in because I didn't want to find my best friend dead. Jake walks in and holds my hand. I ask "What is it, is she dead?"
He starts to cry and says "No, but Mikey might be."
I run into the dorm and see Mikey covered in blood and Marie holding down on his wound with paper towels in tears. I kiss Jake passionately and hug him to comfort him.
I grab my safety kit and ask Jake and Marie to go into another room. All I had to work with were some band-aids, medical gauze wrap, peroxide, and tweezers. I run into the bathroom open up the mirror and grab some pain medication. Mikey looks at me in pain and I give him the medication. He was shot in the abdomin so he doesn't have a likely chance of surviving if the bullet damaged his organs. I grab the tweezers and tell Mikey not to scream, then I lock the door to the dorm so the shooter can't get in if he does scream.
I begin to search the wound with the tweezers and think my mom really did teach me some medical crap. I find the bullet and it's in his abdomin deep, but it didn't hit any organs so he has a more likely chance of survival if he doesn't bleed out.
The wound itself wasn't very deep so I know there wouldn't be bad damage if I take out the bullet. I grab the peroxide and pour it all over the tweezers and grab the bullet. Mikey grasps my arm while trying not to scream. I look at him reassuringly and say "Mikey please, just don't scream. Im adding the peroxide, if the wounds infected this will hurt". I add the peroxide little by little soaking it with gauze when I do. I add the gauze in the wound and and then I wrap the gauze around his wound and stomach. I look at Mikey and tears are running down his face I look around for a phone to call the police or an ambulance on and i can't find one. I see Maries phone on the floor but it's busted. The I ask Mikey where his was and he points in the corner. I grab the phone and dial 911. I request an ambulance and tell the police our dorms were being shot up.
I have a lot of supplies left so I get Jake and Marie to comfort Mikey while I clean the tweezers. I tell them I'm going out to see if no one else is hurt, and if someone is I can help. Jake again tells me "LUNA IT'S TOO RISKY"
I tell him to keep his voice down and kiss him again. Then I ask Marie what the shooter looked like. And she said, I didn't get a glimpse, me and Mikey were making out and the lights went out so we thought it was raining or something. But then his eyes got wide and he jumped in front of me when the shot was fired.
I pick Mikey up and put him on the couch so he can be comfortable. And I leave. Marie runs after me and says "Can I help?" I reply yes. Hand me my supplies if someone is injured.
I assumed Jake was with Mikey because they are besties. So me and Marie head off. We walk around the dorms and up the stairs to the next floor. It was a blood bath. There were people shot everywhere. And Then we hear the gun shots again. I run to my dorm after telling everyone who is shot to hide. We arrive and jake was holding a gun at a man in all black also holding a gun. I scream at the top of my lungs and someone comes up behind me, covers my mouth and holds a gun up to my head. I start to sob and beg for my life. Tears run down my cheeks and I fall onto my knees at the shooter says "Remember me babe?" I scream because I knew exactly who it was. My ex boyfriend Jason. I would recognize that voice anywhere. And I ask who is the other person. He says "I don't know, do you?" The other shooter takes off their mask. It was Valerie. Jake screams "WHY VALERIE, WHY?"
And I start to cry more and more as Valerie turns her gun on me.
Jake grabs his gun and points it at Valerie, and says "BYE BYE THOT" and pulls the trigger. Jason pressed the gun harder to my head and puts me in a head lock. Valerie Is on the ground crying and screaming for help. I ask him to let me go so I can save her. But he doesn't believe me.
He starts to cry for Valerie I can tell they dated or are dating but he won't me go. Jake walks over to me drops his gun and asks "Can I kiss her one last time?"
He takes me from the headlock and says "Go"
And suddenly I see Marie come behind him with a lamp and hit him over the head. I see the police arrive while Valerie is on the floor bleeding out. Her arm was shot because Jake didn't have the balls to kill her. I remove the bullet from her wound and add peroxide and a gauze. She thanks me and pulls the gun on me. She shoots me in the leg. As I kick the absolute crap out of her wound. She squeels in pain as I grab the gun from her.
The police walk In. I am in agonizing pain but Jake carries me to an ambulance. Marie Is in the ambulance with me and Jake Is in the ambulance with Mikey. And Valerie and Jason were taken to prison. Sentence 80 years in prison so I feel safe. But there were many people I could've helped instead of going back to the dorm.
