I woke late the next morning, groggy and disorientated. Blinking the sleep out of my eyes, I tried to identify what had woken me up.
There it was. My cellphone was vibrating on my bedside table, ringing persistently. Reaching out, I grabbed it, putting the phone to my ear.
“Hello?”
“Mmm, you have a sexy morning voice.”
Momentarily confused, I glanced at the caller ID, a grin spreading over my face as I saw Harry’s name flashing there. “Not afraid you’re going to scare me away by coming on too fast, Styles?”
“Nah. We both know I’m too devastatingly handsome for you to drop me now.”
I let myself laugh easily into the phone, hearing his husky chuckle on the other line.
“Aaaand you didn’t text me back. I was afraid you’d been eaten by a bear.”
I frowned, putting the call on speaker and swiping my finger across the screen to bring up my messages. I had six unread messages, all from Harry.
“Sorry about that, I fell asleep.” I bit my lip, hoping I hadn’t just offended one of the biggest celebrities in the world.
“Ouch, Am I that boring?” Harry’s tone was humorous, and I relaxed a little.
“It would seem so. Better pick up your game, Styles.”
“Or I could pick you up? Four o’clock? I know a sick sushi place,” he said, and I could practically hear the smirk in his voice.
“You’re too smooth for your own good, you know that?”
“I am reminded constantly of my charm, but it’s nice to hear it from you as well.”
“Well, I’m afraid those are all of the compliments you’re getting from me today. I happen to have other things to do than wait around for a boy to take me to a mediocre sushi restaurant and talk about his amazing personality.” I let my voice lilt up at the end jokingly, twirling a strand of hair with my free hand.
“What, you think you know a better place?”
“The best sushi I’ve ever tasted was in Miami,” I said, positive of this announcement. “You’ll have a hard time impressing me wherever you’re thinking of going.”
“My god, the girl’s gotten cocky.” Harry laughed. “Fine then, I will attempt to sweep your highness off her feet with something even more extraordinary. I’ll pick you up at four.”
“Wait no! I’m not free,” I said quickly, before he could hang up.
“I have learned in the last few months that when you are in such a position as yourself appointments rarely have to be kept.”
“What about dress fittings for major award ceremonies?”
“Ah, well. I can honestly say I have never had a dress fitting, so I would not know.”
“This is important, Harry. I’m really sorry. Maybe another time?” I sat tensed, willing him to agree.
“Sure. You’re not going to get rid of me that easily.”
“I’m betting on it.”
“Goodbye, Tegan.”
“Goodbye, Harry.”
…
After Harry’s call, I showered and ordered a room service breakfast which I ate hurriedly before a car arrived to drive me to the fitting. It was at a huge warehouse-like building with racks and racks of clothes, all from high-end designers, all for different celebrities. Today I was trying out dresses for my next two premiers, as well as the golden globes and the Oscars.
