Jimin sat still, trying to focus on something else other than the man before him. The uneasiness was growing in his hut, the cup of wine in his hand was a mere distraction from the heated gaze he was receiving from Jeon Jungkook. Yoongi had excused himself after receiving an important phone call. And it had already been more than ten minutes since he had left the dining room and left them alone in silence. A wave of awkwardness had fallen over them as soon as Yoongi was gone, and he couldn't even bring himself to look across the table. And Jimin had been trying his best to keep his attention elsewhere in order to avoid having to interact with the man he was still not familiar with. His attention from the glass in his hand was interrupted, Jungkook had called his name softly, breaking him from his intense concentration.

When he looked at the man, he finally allowed himself to trail his eyes over all his features. His eyes were soft, a soft brown that held so much comfort, something that drew him in immediately. His eyebrows were sharp and his jaw even sharper. His lips were pulled into a small smile, lips thin but inviting. He looked away, taking a sip from his glass and pretending to savor the flavor. He tried to pull himself together, turning his attention back to Jungkook and simply raised an eyebrow. He didn't want to seem intimidated, wanted to assert his position above him and waited for him to speak.

"I'm sure you hear this often. But I thought it was fair that I tell you you're beautiful."

Jimin looked away, trying to conceal his smirk from showing. He took another sip of wine before setting the glass down, and straightened up in his chair. When he looked at Jungkook again, there was a cunning grin on his face. His features seemed to brighten with his expression, and he couldn't help but accept just how attracted he was to Jungkook. He knew the man was as sly as a fox, and was waiting for him to show his true colors. And even though he was expecting it, he wasn't ready for just how much power he knew Jungkook could exude. The man knew how to play his cards right, acting as a mere lackey in front of Yoongi. But alone, he let himself loose and was ready to take over anything or anyone within his reach. And if Jimin wanted to be taken by Jungkook, he would have to be prepared to hide the thought away before it was obvious for Jungkook to know.

"You're not the first to say those exact words. People who want to kiss Yoongi's ass tend to try to butter me up."

Jimin let his smirk sink deeper, taunting, as he looked Jungkook straight in the eyes. But the other man didn't back down, instead he seemed to have sensed he had him right where he wanted him. His eyes darkened, staring him down with the same grin he had been sporting for a while now.

"People.... Well baby, I'm not exactly the type to kiss someone's ass. But I can assure you that if I wanted to, I could walk out of here with you by my side."

Jimin blinked, processing his words before he let out a stifle of giggles. He wiped at his eyes in an exaggerated manner, trying to make the other man embarrassed. But when he looked up he was met with an expression he was not expecting. There was a shift he hadn't noticed, Jungkook no longer had the same grin and his eyes weren't filled with the slyness from earlier. He was not looking at him with a sliver of pity painted in his eyes, and his heart shrunk. He let his own features drop, lips retreating his smile as he tried to search Jungkook's eyes with a drop of playfulness. But he could only see the growing darkness in Jungkook's eyes as he sat back in his chair with a heavy sigh.

"I also know you don't hear this often" His voice was low, quiet enough for only his to be able to hear, "... Don't you wish to be free?"

Those words that fell from his lips, struck him with confusion. Free. He wasn't sure what those words meant to him. But before he could think further about it, the glass doors slid open and Yoongi walked in. He took a seat once more and didn't bother to find it necessary to apologize for being gone too long. Jimin took another sip of wine, trying to stop the ringing of Jungkook's words in his mind. He tried his best to smile through the rest of the dinner. Not once looking in Jungkook's direction again, he didn't think he would be able to look at him without remembering the small talk. Yoongi didn't seem to mind him, became too engrossed in eating his steak and continued his business with Jungkook.

By the end of dinner, he was ready to make his way to bed. He had turned to drinking wine, and was beginning to feel the effects of the alcohol. Yoongi pulled him along to see Jungkook out. Only then was he able to look into Jungkook's eyes again. And once more, they were back to being full of smugness. He was only able to say a mere goodbye trying to avoid having a longer interaction. But Jungkook reached for his hand, taking his palm lightly and giving his knuckles a small peck, uttering how much respect he deserved. But he couldn't hear his words clearly, could only focus on how his eyes seemed to mock him. And when he pulled away, he could only disguise his shock with a small smile.

As soon as the door closed, Yoongi turned away, walking into his study room and leaving him alone by the door. He swallowed thickly, rushing up the stairs to their bedroom and locking himself in the bathroom. He opened his palm, staring at the note that Jungkook had passed to him when he had taken hold of his hand. Jungkook's handwriting was neat, words easy to read once he had willed himself to open it. He couldn't help the wave of uneasiness as soon as he read the words that seemed to swirl in his mind.

Jimin shook his head, throwing the small note in the toilet and flushing it away. But despite having disposed of the note, he couldn't conceal the words from going away. He sat in his vanity, staring into the mirror and replaying the words in his mind. The more he thought about it, the clearer Jungkook's voice seemed to ring in his mind.
