I had woken up over two hours early to allow for plenty of time for the three of us to get ready for this morning's training session. I took almost no time at all to wash up and get dressed. The boys, on the other hand, were a struggle to just get out of bed. It takes roughly thirty minutes to coax them into the showers, but after that they easily get dressed and ready themselves. I have to make sure we are accurately punctual because I know if I don't then our squad will suffer deductions. Although it's hard to go lower than we already are, considering we are at the bottom of the ranks. Nevertheless, we are the only group that manages to actually appear on time to things. Everyone else can be late, but we can not afford such amenities.
While the boys finished up with their bunk making, I read the communications for us. I glanced over that the two of them as they made their beds. The two room compartment we share houses the squad, our weapons and armor if we had any, and a small bathroom complete with two showers. It doesn't bother anyone really that females and males bunk together, we are way past basic training to give a damn. This place may not seem like much but it's home for us until the time being. We all; however, live in an underground base at the bottom of a mountain on this planet.
The planet's name is Isol, mostly because it's covered in ice and has annual temperatures below -40 degrees Celsius. These conditions make it relatively difficult to go outside much, so training occurs inside in our simulation rooms. That is what our squad does each morning, helping to train the top ranking operatives, in the hopes that we might learn from them. I sigh as I walked over towards the two of them. "Price, how much longer are you going to spend on the bed sheets?" Price narrowed his eyes at me and turned back around to face the slightly wrinkled sheet. He had a blond buzz cut and was built like an ox with broad shoulders and long legs.
"Well Staton, as soon as I smooth this out we can leave." He grumbled. Sullivan Price was an OCD neat freak. Everything had to be in it's place, clean, and wrinkle free. I laughed at this, "Okay, okay. What about you Ellis? Ready to head out?" Ellis was short and lanky, with a boyish appearance and short black hair. His glasses often were being pushed back up onto his nose when he was really focused on something. He was almost the complete opposite of Price, except he too was a neat freak. Of course with having these two constantly cleaning, my role as the slob is to keep them in business. If they aren't cleaning, then they are getting into trouble. I'm not a total slob, but I don't worry about constant upkeep like the boys do. Thankfully they make up for the contamination I create, and when they complain about it I just say I've got to keep them busy somehow. Bam! Huge mess that they can't resist cleaning up.
Ellis nodded to me, pushing his glasses up, and moved towards the door. "Alright, I'm ready now." Price said dramatically, wiping his brow, and swiftly turning around to face us. "You are so dramatic Price , I swear." I said laughing, my previously crossed arms had now fallen to my sides. Ellis chuckled lightly and I said, "Let's go then boys. We've got twenty minutes before warm ups start."
I walked down the hall in front of them, hearing groans from behind me. " Do we have to?", wined Price. "You know that we have to do this every day they have training. Besides, we can't really afford to miss any of these. We are already at the bottom of the ranks guys." I said sternly. They didn't like helping train the agents who actually get to see combat, and frankly neither did I. But this was our job, and we had to do it or else we would be kicked out of the company.
"You're right Staton, they do need us. I mean, who else are they going to beat up every day?" Ellis said sarcastically. I turned to face him, brows furrowed. "Really?" I smirked. Despite the comment, I knew he was right. They only use us for training, cleaning, and loading equipment. We had only seen combat once; and between Ellis's panic attack and Price's friendly fire incident, we haven't been allowed out since.
