"Mindy, you really need to find yourself a mate!" says my friend, Crystal. I say this, but I know that she has no reason to be talking. She's 24, while I'm only 20, and she hasn't even thought about getting a mate.

"I know I do Crystal. I dont know, I just, can't seem to find the right guy. I'll find him eventually, whether he's werewolf or human." I say as my eyes trail some of the single guy pack members. We're sitting outside on the stone bench, watching the pack group together for a hunt, which very rarely takes place with this many members in the hunting party. We are running low on food, so we sent a group to the market, and our hunting group, which usually only has four of five, has about twelve.

"Come on girls! I know your drooling over the guys, but we're leaving right now. We're wasting daylight!" Jay, who is our Alpha, screams. All the guys' heads swivel our way to see our reactions, and, of course, to see if they can catch us checking them out. I react too fast for them though, and jump up.

"Jay, you know we can all hunt perfectly well in the dark, right? Or did that little ability slip your mind?" I yell back, jumping up. I start running, and turn into a wolf mid-stride. Crystal rubs against me, trying to send her thoughts to me. I break off, not wanting to hear it from her right now. I love hunting, and I don't need her ruining it.

I also love the feeling of being in wolf form. Its amazing. The first transition was really painful, but it never hurts after that. But the feeling of the wind blowing through my fur, of my four paws pounding against the ground. Or slowly padding through the leaves. The feeling of sinew and tissue, and bones, all relaxing and contracting to move me forward. The feeling of my tail brushing against the ground. Its all amazing, and such a cool experience. You see everything differently, thanks to the heightened senses. You can smell the slightest scent of fear, or excitement. You can see further and clearer than you could before you became a werewolf, and even better when your in wolf form. And you can hear the smallest mouse rustling through the leave. Its all so overwhelming, I never get tired of it. Its so different.

Jay howls, and we take off running. I look around to take in the different pelts. Mine's pure silver with spots of red and black in it. Crystal's is pure red, and Jay's is pure black with a single white stripe running down the middle of his back.

I run up next to Jay and rub against him. "Hey Race Car, did you really have to scream that out? Come on, you could have gotten us in trouble. The guys were about to attack us, did you see the way they all swiveled their heads toward us?" I joke.

"Sorry Spot, just telling the truth! DEER!!!!" Jay breaks off and signals for us to get into our hunting positions. I shake my head and move to the back with Crystal.

We take the herd down easily, there were only six to them and there are twelve of us. I change back, my clothes magically appearing on my body. Don't ask me why it happens, but it does. But however it happens, I'm so glad for it. "I'm gonna run human for a while Jay, that okay with you?" He looks at me and nods, then picks up the largest, a buck, and most likely 100 pounds. "Show off." I mumble to myself. Jay hears me and growls, and I know what he's thinking.

"Okay, okay. Geez, I'll shut up." I say and take off sprinting, while Crystal runs beside me, not carrying anything. The guys carry the weight, when there's enough in the group, and the women protect, in case anything tries to attack. "Don't even think it Crystal, I know that I need to find a mate, and I'm looking for one. But you don't got room to talk." I say. She snorts, because, once again, I've guessed what she was thinking, plus some. That's what she gets for being my friend for such a long time.

We get back to the house, and give the venison to the pack chef to cook. Sometimes we call it our house the den, and it's huge. A mansion practically, but that makes sense when there are thirty or more of us living in one house. We stay apart from the city most of the time, but we need to shop every now and again, so we aren't too far away from the city. Plus some of us single pack members need to look for mates, and if we can't find a wolf mate, we need to look for a human mate and turn them.

"Who's that?" I ask Crystal, looking at some guy that I've never seen before. Its odd, because since I've been here so long, I know everyone. He's shirtless so all of us can see his six pack. Typical egotistical guy.

"That guy? I don't know, I've never seen him before." I sniff the air, because I want to see if he's mated. He's not, and he's a werewolf.

"That there is my son, Marcos." Jay says, scaring the crap out of me. He knows exactly who we're talking about, since we know everyone else. I take them both in. I can see the similarities. Pitch black hair, though Jay's is short and his son's is down just past his ears. Sharp nose, his is a bit crooked though. His eyes are gray, and he's wearing a worn out pair of Wrangler's jeans, and a pair of Levi's. He really muscled, ripped really. When I finally stop checking him out and notice him walking over here, I panic. He's really cute, and if I look like a mess, I'll have no chance.

"How do I look?" I ask, turning to face Crystal.

"You look good Mindy. Why can't I ever look as good as you right after a hunt?" she complains, making me smile. I have wavy dark brown hair with some natural blonde high-lights and black low-lights. A small nose, high, defined cheekbones, big jade green eyes, and I'm pretty curvy. I'm probably the skinniest girl here though, I'm like a twig.

Crystal on the other hand is also curvy, but has ram rod straight, jet black hair, small nose, medium sized chocolaty brown eyes, and a big chest.

"Hey." He says. "I'm Marcos Darke. What are your names, beautifuls?"

I stand up, oh yeah, another difference between Crystal and I. I don't get flustered around guys, whereas she can barely speak coherently. "I'm Mindy, and this is my friend Crystal. Nice to meet you Marcos." I say, and hear Crystal mumble 'Hi.' behind me. I flash him one of my better smiles, and know that I want Marcos as my mate. As long as his ego isn't too big.

"I'm sure Crystal can speak for herself." he says, and then laughs one of those deep, rumbly laughs. I laugh right along with him, and can tell Crystal is jealous.

"I don't think so; she can't really talk around guys." I say laughing, and Crystal punches me.

"Ow!" I scream. We may be girls, but we can punch hard if we want to. Marcos laughs again at us, and Jay interrupts us.

"Hey, sorry to interrupt you're flirting, but I placed Marcos in your room. Hope you guys don't mind!" Mind? Ha, like I'd mind him sleeping in my room!

"Really Jay? You HAD to put him in my room?"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa Mindy, I can tell you don't mind. By the way, wipe the drool off your face. That's my son your sharing a room with!" he replies as he walks away. I blush as Marcos looks at me.

"I know I won't mind..." Marcos mumbles, and I laugh. I guess he read my mind. "I'm serious." he says, looking into my eyes. I don't know what it is about him, but he makes it feel like we're the only two people in the world. Oh my gerd, I sound so cheesy. He leans forward and brushes a stray hair out of my face, smirking. I smirk back at him. He smells good, but I'm not going to let him know that. Intoxicating, actually.

"Hey bro, you're a little close." I tell him.

"Oh yeah?" He mumbles.

"Yeah."

"Well, I guess that's too bad." He says, looking at me. He leans down a little, but I back up just a little, so he can't kiss me. I look up at him, since he's just a couple inches taller than me.

"Hey guys, can I interrupt your flirting for just a second?" She asks, grabbing my arm. "Sorry Marcos. Mindy and I need to talk."

I laugh, and wave bye to Marcos as Crystal drags me off. "See you in a bit!"
