Te Fiti was beautiful as always. The mountaintops forested green and flourishing with life, Maui stared upon it. The demigod was rested atop a large boulder, knee bent and elbow resting there, chin layed lazily against his palm. He had found himself thinking back to Motinui, the humans he had left behind when Moana took the canoe to her homeland. His lips turned down in a slight pout. There had been absolutely no action whatsoever for the past months he has been on Te Fiti's island. Maui's muscles ached for the feeling of fighting, of saving the world, of being a hero once more. But, he ached for more than that. Maui ached for companionship, and more than just a docile goddess and his own "Mini Maui" that resided within his skin.

"Te Fiti, I'm bored, I want something to rise me to my feet." Maui absently said, picking grains of sand from his skin. "There are no monsters, no action," no Moana.

The thought rang loudly in his mind. No Moana, no fun, nobody to make me laugh. No friends. Maui was sick of being alone, he wanted his friend back to keep him company. He had hoped that Te Fiti would forgive him if he were to fly away, to return to Motinui. He could keep an eye on the island, he could always return. After a few minutes of thought, Maui had decided. He was going to Motinui and to see Moana. Maybe they could find an adventure together, or maybe he could make new friends or find an occupation. Something, anything to keep him busy.

Maui raised his giant fishook, now repaired and better than ever, and swung it down in an arc. His body morphed into a giant eagle, and he took one last look at Te Fiti before he flew off over the ocean.

Moana was busy, busy as always. Her father popped her future Chieftess cap on her head in the morning, and toured her around the village per usual. They didn't have to keep too hard of an eye on her now, as she was the lead Way-finder and knew her way around the ocean and the few islands that surrounded their own. That, and she was now mature enough to take care of herself for the most part. And, she was almost of marriage age. But, her parents planned on holding out on that for at least a little while.

"Dad, I don't know why you keep having me do the same things over and over. I already know how to do it! And, when the groves need moved we know where to move them. When the nets need changed we know how to change them. Why must we always go in circles?" The whining only annoyed Moana's father, who crossed his arms in disdain.

"Because, Moana. The time is nearing where we must pass off the status of Chief. And, if you are to be Chieftress, then I have to make sure you are one-hundred-percent ready. That includes going in circles over the same thing every day."  Of course, this wasn't the answer Moana wanted to hear, so she pouted and rolled her eyes.

Overhead, a caw was heard. Not just any caw, but that of a very large bird. An eagle, to be exact. As Moana and her father turned their heads to the sound, Maui had already landed and transformed back into his usual demi-god form, fish hook slung over his shoulder. He gave a small bow to the current Chief, and then smirked at his small companion. "Hey, Curly."

"Maui!" Moana shrieked. She couldn't jump into his arms fast enough. "You came back to Motinui! I thought you were staying with Te Fiti?!"

"Te Fiti and I will have an understanding," Maui explained, his large arms still wrapped firmly around the small girl. "She will be okay for now, as long as I check in with her."

After a few more moments he let go of Moana, whose feet touched the ground softly. "IT's okay if I stay here for a bit, isn't it Curly?"

"Of course you can!"

"Great... Now, where would I be staying..?"
