1700 miles away and 241 days before our story takes place.
Somewhere off the coast of what was formerly known as Oregon, a place now completely demolished by nuclear attacks...

I can explain. I didn't mean ta do it... It just kinda'... Happened.

There's no way something as deadly as this was an accident. There are poisons in your Bio-Therm that have been known deadly to man scince the 15th century. *Sigh* If you're not going to talk, we'll just bring someone else in. Maybe you know her. Mabel?

A cry could be heard from behind the wooden framed door.

No! You can't take mah wife from me! She's done nothin' wrong, an' that's a promise! It was me!

Then speak. This information is vital to the survival of Earth. 3 years ago, our global government was corrupted by lies and secrets. With the fall of the political system, any poisons, drugs, and alcohol were permitted through the border. I suppose you took what you could from the lab you worked at before the scientists could catch you?

Y-yes, that's raght. I took the chemicals back to mah own lab, concoctions I hoped would be able tuh sever the sickness that infected the animals. I was wrong, and when I set a dog loose in my backyard, it ripped through mah fence with immence power and was loose. Now, I followed the trail of mauled people who had been bit for a good long while. After one or two hours of trailing, I found it dead on the ground. No scars or wounds, so I assumed it had died from the injection I had given it earlier.

So you released a deadly creature into your neighbourhood.

Yes, I did. But I want tuh let you know somethin' before I start talkin' anymore. I ain't typically this easy talkin', an' I wouldn't be if I knew us didn't have mah wife in a room lahk this un here. But if you so much as lay un of yer pretty little guvernment hands on her, I swear it'll be the last thing yuh do.

There was a chilling sound like the throw of a knife, and the air that rushed through the hair between the gouvernment agen't head and the deadly blade made a whistle. The southerner probably smiled, as if he had given the government agent a taste of what was coming to him. Then the glass on the door lit up in flashes, gunshots flew through the air aimed at the southerner. A peircing scilence filled the air, then the projection on the security monitor ended.

So that's chapter two for ya! Just a small chapter, and you won't be seeing any more of those characters. Just a tidbit of how this all started.

If you enjoyed the chapter, I'd love it if you left a vote!
