I miss my best friend-
The one who I laughed with for hours on end.
And as daylight begins to fade,
I let down my careful charade.
My eyes pour out tears,
And my mouth my fears.
There is no response-
Though there was, once.
Your tombstone seems to glare
Fiercer than the chilly air.
Forgive me, my friend,
For I feel my life coming to an end.
Grief has destroyed me-
Yet no one has been able to see.
One more tear is shed,
As I realize I too am dead.
