I was in the middle of a war zone. Straight up dead mans land in the tiny space I sat in. Everywhere I looked it was a flurry of colors and blurs of people smeared in the background, chaos erupting around me. Some called it paradise, others called it an uproar. I, on the other hand, called it life or death. You either die outside of my little space or you live inside the circle around me, no exceptions. Voices erupted from either side, non of them lower than a seventh octave and all of them just as annoying. What, I dare say, am I talking about? It's the worse of the worse. The chaotic of the chaos. The worst thing you can possibly imagine.Prom night.
"Cryss, does this dress fit me?"
"God damn I shouldn't have eaten all those brownies!"
"O M G my hair! I need a bobby pin before this comes out!"
"Jesus Christ my mascara is dripping!"
"What if my make up comes off?!"
"My eyelashes aren't sticking!"
"I look beautiful!"
"I look ugly!"
"Why am I so fat!"
"I can't fit in this damn thing!"
"I should've bought more highlighter!"
"Lindsey you used all of my eyeshadow?!"
I sat peacefully in the middle of a raging, sweating war covered in perfume and hair spray and shimmery powder. Luckily, I was a year younger than more than half of the abdominal, prissy monsters known as my "sisters," but that didn't change the fact that I was out of the whole night. I had to give a lending hand with anything for whatever they needed help with, yet they realized I wasn't even close to being a pro at their "big night," so two of them drew a big fat circle around me with chalk so I didn't ruin anything they planned to do.
I smiled at them, spewing a long list of colorful words whenever they looked at me.
"Cryssy, do my eyelashes look okay?" A worried face popped into my line of vision, forehead creased with worry. My sister, Hailey's, entire face was orange, with nude-shaded lipgloss coating her lips and huge, lopsided eyelashes clinging to her eyelid by a hair.
"Nope. They're as fake as you." I said with a big fat smile. She didn't seem to take that as an insult, or she didn't hear it over the chaos around us, because her face lit up and she gave me a side-hug.
"Thanks little sis." She sprung up and disappeared with a flurry of coral fabric.
"Crystal, is my hair okay? Jenny did it but Lindsay and Talaie are hogging the mirror so I'm going off of your input." Callie asked, perking up her hair with a perfectly manicured hand. Her make up was 5 pounds less than Hailey, but still coating enough layers to bake a cake. Her hair was teased up into a half-up, half-down, blonde highlighted hair-do, bobbing into frizzy curls that could just pass off as a hairstyle, if that.
"It's as ugly as your personality, inside and out!" I exclaimed happily, my grin widening. She smiled down at me and nodded, scurrying after Hailey.
"Hey, crystal-litty," Somebody else greeted, popping in my vision for a split second before tucking her dress underneath her butt so she could sit down on the outside of my circle.
"Hey Morgan," I gave her a once-over and nodded, agreeing somewhat in her outwards appearance. Lightly applied make up that matched her skin tone, little wings of eyeliner, mascara, chapstick, curled hair pinned pack with diamond bobby pins, and a dress the color of the deepest part of the ocean. Blue flounced around her, wrapping tight enough to see she had a figure, but loose enough to be comfortable in whatever position. A sequenced-diamond belt wrapped around her midriff, tucking in some slight ruffles and exposing half of her shoulders.
