I was standing in the balcony of my two bedroom apartment. I had a clear view of everything standing there. It was a windy day yet a beautiful weather. The wind kissed my cheeks sending my hair move in all directions. I cleared my face by pulling my hair into a neat bun and putting few strands behind my ear. Suddenly I felt few drops of water on my face. I look up to see the sky tearing up. I let out a soft sigh and went inside my room. If only someone knew what was going on with me...
"Melanie dear, Sarah's here. Come out quick honey." My mom said. Lana Rogers. She is a professor in NYU and a very kindhearted lady, she is a very good friend when you need one. She is very caring and whatever I am today is because of her.
"Coming mum, just a minute." I said and quickly hurried downstairs only to meet my best friend with a huge smile on her face. Yeah, why not??She will be leaving for London in a few days to be precise 6 days. So she will be staying with us for the duration.'London is a cool place,so to the contrast there will be hotter guys!!! What more does a girl want????'
Her words not mine. She is going to Oxford university which has been her childhood dream and I am genuinely very happy for her although she will not be here anymore but still as long she is happy, so am I! Right????
RIGHT??? Urgh!!!
"Hey you, come here. What are you looking at silly girl? Won't you give me a hug??"
Sarah said with her puppy dog eyes and pouty lips.... Urgh!!! Not again... Yeah right! Who the hell am I kidding.. Who can say no to that face? Not me.! We have been together since grade 1 and till today we have a very strong bond. We don't need to speak to understand each other's problems. She is a gem and I am really very lucky to have her. She is very beautiful. Brunette hair, which ends just above her hips, ocean blue eyes, small nose and those pink pouty lips... No wonder boys always went gaga over her!!!
"Oh yeah? Should I? As far as I remember I am not the one leaving my best friend for finding so called hot guys."
I said with a scowl and playfully rolled my eyes at her.
"Uh-huh. Point to be noted my lord. Miss Rogers said 'go Sarah follow your dreams'so mind it Miss Rogers."
I chuckled at this and gave her a tight hug as to never let her go.
"I will miss you melly-pelly"
Sarah's back!!!yay!!! The first time we met she had given me this weird nickname which she very well knows annoys the hell out of me
..but who are we talking about... None other than Sarah Granger
URGH!!!
"No dear.. I will definitely not... But don't worry u can miss me u know but I am sorry to say that I sadly won't miss u... Coz I have not needed u anyhow but u have darling... Oh my God!!! Sarah what are u going to do without me.???" I said and let out a fake gasp and covered my mouth from laughing. She glared at me for a whole one minute.
"Jerk" she said and walked away straight into her room... Yeah her room. I couldn't hold any longer and burst out laughing, clutching my stomach. For Sarah to come and stay here is no big deal. We have been doing this since childhood. Her parents are most of the time out of the country traveling for business purposes. They are TV commercialists. So ....we always end up together. She is like my sister and an integral part of the family. She was always there for me whenever I needed her.
After calming down a bit, I went up to her room and stood by her door. She was getting ready to go somewhere.
"So ...where to?" I asked her smiling. She turned around and hugged me tightly.
WOAH!!! That was unexpected!
"Mel, I am going on a date. Yay!!!" She squealed, jumping on her toes with a huge grin plastered on her face. See, this was my best friend. Every Sunday, she has a new date 'no attachment policy, only flirting policy' her words again not mine. So...here she goes. I simply rolled my eyes at her.
"Oh come on Mel! This is my last stay here, but I don't want it to be my last date. I want to carry on my good work of helping the guys, you know..
Pretty desperate they are." She said scrunching her nose and we both laughed our heads off at her comment.
"Yeah..yeah. Okay now get that pretty little ass of yours out of this place... Now shoo" I shooed her with my hands.
"Owwww... What was that for???" I asked surprised. I didn't see that coming. Guessed right
She smacked me hard on my arm. I glared at her.
Drama queen!
"You asked for it sweetie! I am too generous to say no to anyone asking me for something... So bye Mel... And sleep tight." She said in a sing song voice before slamming they door shut on her way out. Perks of having a best friend. I sighed and went upstairs in search of my mom. I need her now.
