Hey there!

I want to share with you some of the in depth things it would seem stories in general these days are lacking. Now other than most plot points being planned out; let's discuss something.

Not every character should the same, nor should every single character resemble - you guessed it - YOU!

That would be so boring (Not that you are boring) but because if everyone was the same who would there be to read your book? No one. Because they wrote it XD

Now this is a spread sheet with some basic questions I find important and we are going to break it down together:

Seems like a lot huh? Well I did this for every single character of mine in the most recent story I've written. I'm going to take one of my characters to help you figure out the basics.

The three most basic things are here at the top for you

The three most basic things are here at the top for you. For me it would look like this:

Plus I filled with a font I picture as her print writing

But you get my point right? The basics of my character were long imagined before I even put pen to paper or in this case typed really fast on my keyboard.

15. Didn't get to say goodbye/wasn't home

16. A fear of losing control

17. The prologue. (I won't get into this but you get the point)

18. Doesn't see herself having one.

19. Someday she can be with her best friend again.

Seems pretty simple right? But without answers to these questions the story would seem dull and boring.

I highlighted the most important questions in my opinion:

Most people are reading your story to escape or enter a new world. They ARE NOT inside of your brain. It's also important to know who depends on your character.

Now:

Not making every character you is important.

You hopefully know yourself pretty freaking well, but the world is not made of clones. I'm not even talking about personality traits yet. I've met people on here who basically are their characters. Blond hair, nice eyes, please go on about how perfect everyone is.

A rant for another time is how there are characters without scars; any. No mental, physical, or emotional scars. None. You can't write an entire book like that because NO ONE LIKE THAT EXISTS IN OUR REALITY! Even in Fantasy novels, some people HAVE SCARS! Or birth marks, or tattoos.

I'm off topic here but still.

Give you character unique details. Please. For me.

(I am a Description Nazi BTW)

Also! Characters change with their circumstances and experiences. Someone who just finished the apocalypse is going to be a hell of a lot different then when the damn thing started. So please. PLEASE -> write realistic human (maybe not) beings. Emotions are a thing. Life is a thing.

Any questions feel free to ask me, as I'll add more as needed.
