''I'm at a payphone trying to call home"
0 5 | P H O N E C A L L S
I look forward at the two sisters, talking in a hushed tone.
I can't help but flick my eyes between the both of them. They have to be twins. Everything about them was the same, now having them both in front of me. Okay, not everything.
Like for instance, the nose. The more I look at them, I realise that Jamie has a more sharper nose whereas Maia has a more button shaped nose. Jamie wasn't as tanned as Maia, but there wasn't a bit difference. Today Maia's eyes looked brighter, almost a hypnotising green whereas Jamie were more turquoise in the light that was surrounding us.
They were pretty much the same size but after I escorted them to the cafeteria downstairs, I noticed Jamie was wearing a bit of heel and Maia was in a pair of converses so she might be shorter.
Maia was currently dressed in a black top, draped over with a checkered red shirt. Her dark black hair was pulled into a messy braids on each side of her head, making her look younger. Jamie on the other hand was dressed smartly, ready for an interview.
Which just reminds, is this even an interview anymore?
"The usual for Mr. Cartilo." A cup of hot Mocha is placed before me, knocking me out of my thoughts. I look up to see a male waiter, placing out orders onto our table. I give him a smile and he looks towards the sisters.
"Here is your Iced Americano and blueberry muffin," the waiter says, placing Jamie's order in front of her, "and lastly, here is your Iced Latte, scrambled eggs, sizzled bacon, hash browns, large chocolate chip muffin and fresh fruit salad with cream."
I look straight ahead at Maia grinning at the waiter as he places three plates and a cup before her. She looks dreamily at the food, showing the biggest smile I've ever seen on her face.
Guess food makes this girl happy.
"Thank you." The girls say simultaneously.
Jamie looks over at her sister and shoots her a dirty look. "Has mom not been feeding you for the past year or something?"
Maia rolls her eyes. "I haven't eaten since yesterday afternoon."
"Why not?" The words spill from my mouth before I could even process what I was saying.
The girl shoves a forkful of bacon into her mouth, meeting me briefly with her pretty eyes. "Been busy."
"Busy enough to forget about eating?" I say, taking a sip of my mocha. "I could have paperwork at the desk all day but I could never forget about my food." I look down and pat my belly.
