"Ha! I win, again!" Screamed Cole from the living room floor.

"Oh shut up nerd! That's only because you have a freaking strategy!" Lindsey yelled back.

"Guys please shut up my parents are asleep," I tell them in a whisper quiet voice.

"Oh come on Hunt, you know your parents aren't going to wake up," Cole told me.

"They will. Now shut up," I retorted.

"You better listen to the lady, Cole. She can get really feisty," Lindsey commented.

"Whatever." Cole said as he gathered up all the uno cards and put them back in the box. Cole's sandy hair was slightly messed up, and his black eyes were fully concentrated on putting the cards back in the box. Lindsey, on the other hand, was on her phone probably reading a new book she downloaded. Her mid-length auburn hair was put up into its usual low ponytail, while her hazel eyes stayed locked on her phone.

Tomorrow is a Monday so my parents wanted us to get enough sleep, but sadly we just played a two hour long uno game.

"I'm getting ready for bed," I told them as I stood up. I headed to my room which was up the stairs and down the hall to the right. My room was slightly big, with light blue walls and golden carpet. My bed was pushed up against the far corner, and my dresser and other things were to the wall opposite.

I made my way to my dresser and pulled out a black shirt with purple shorts, and decided this would be good enough. After putting those on, I rushed back downstairs to see that Lindsey and Cole were watching a move on the couch.

"You guys suck," I said as I sat between them. "You started it without me."

"It was just the ads Hunt, chill," Cole said. As the movie played, one by one, we each fell asleep.

"Hunter, Lindsey, Cole wake up or you'll be late!" My mom woke us up at 6:30 in the morning because school started at 7:15, and we all know Cole needed a shower.

As Lindsey and I ate breakfast, Cole took a shower because of the smell that radiated from his body. It was pretty bad. After he finished in the shower, Lindsey and I went up to my room to change for school. She wore a light purple shirt decorated with little flowers that hung just above her hips, with dark skinny jeans and white converses. She puts on her favorite faded black jacket and puts her hair up in a low ponytail.

I ,on the other hand, throw on my favorite flannel shirt with a black tank top under it. I put on light washed skinny jeans and my black high tops. I leave my knee length hair down and spend around five minutes brushing it.

We grab our book bags and head back downstairs and find Coke waiting at the door.

"Took you girls long enough." Cole commented. Lindsey just rolled her eyes.

*THIRD PERSON*
As the three best friends arrived at the school, one could only wonder how their paths could have crossed, seeing as they are all different from each other.

Cole Fisher used to be the most quietest kid in elementary school. He wouldn't talk to anyone, much less a girl. His hair always looked messy, but in a way that most girls found cute. His soft round eyes, even though black, would always give away the emotion that he would try to hide. Ever since middle school, girls started giving him attention and noticed the cute things about him. Like the way he squints his eyes when he reads, or the way his nose flares when he does a math problem. As of now, Cole is on the soccer team for his school and pretty good at it too.

Lindsey Cornell was the one kid that no one knew because she was a transfer. She transferred over to her new school the start of seventh grade. She has grown very fond of the people that she has befriended, and her friends simply love her slight geekiness. She gets her auburn hair from her mother, and her hazel eyes from her deceased father, who sadly died in a car crash when Lindsey was only eight.

Hunter Garrison is really just the average high schooler. Although, we all know better than to think that. Though people find Hunter's appearance more angelic than most, thanks to her pale blonde hair that ends to her knees, and her soft purple eyes that only once every seventh generation happens in her family, (meaning her great, great, great, great, great grandmother had purple eyes) she finds herself equal to her other friends.

To summarize, Cole: once was quiet and shy, now a really involved kid. Lindsey: Everybody's favorite go-to-friend. Hunter: angel child. And yes, we all know that this is the cliché part of the story.

But, one does happen to recall the fateful day in which these three lives crossed paths. And these three will certainly remember it for the rest of their lives.

It was finally the end of school and the beginning of summer for the middle and high schoolers at Cross Creek. Cole had gone home via bus, while Lindsey was walking with an acquaintance. Hunter's older brother was picking her up, seeing as he was attending the same school as them.

When Cole got home he found his mother, passed out on the couch. He suspected that was because she desired to work the night shift again. His dad was still at his work, and he lived pretty close to town, so he decided to go to Java, the downtown coffee shop.

Lindsey was still walking home by this time and was having a conversation with said acquaintance. As they past her house, Lindsey said goodbye and walked inside, to see that her mother was nowhere to be seen. A note on the tiny dry erase board on the refrigerator read,

Lindsey,
I'm sorry I won't be home when you get here. I had to run an errand. Feel free to go where you like, you know my rules and boundaries.

Love, Mom

Lindsey decided that a nice drink would make her feel better about not coming home to her mother, so she went to Java as well.

Hunter pretty much had to beg her brother to let her go. Eventually he did give in and dropped her off. As she entered the small shop, Cole was approaching on her left, with Lindsey to her right. As Hunter went to open the door, it hit Lindsey in the face, causing Hunter to go into apologetic mode, while Lindsey was holding her nose, and Cole was beginning to laugh.

"Hey! It's not funny so stop laughing you idiot!" Hunter yelled at him.

"Is it bleeding?" Asked Lindsey as she lifted her head up to reveal a slightly bloody nose.

"Yeah kinda. I'm really sorry. Here let me help you." Hunter helped Lindsey to her feet and took her to the bathroom. As they cleaned off her face, Cole was trying to decide what he wanted.

When the females came out of the bathroom, they were already talking about what they liked and disliked. As they stepped in line behind Cole, another cashier said they could help them. As Hunter looked at the menu, she decided what she wanted. And just like that, this is how their friendship sparked:

"I'll take..." Cole began.

"I'll have a...." Hunter started.

"I want to have a....." Lindsey chimed in.

"A 'You're Killin Me Smalls' please!" They all exclaim in unison. They looked at each other sheepishly. According to the menu, 'You're Killin Me Smalls' is a marshmallow topped, chocolate drink that most people in the school enjoyed. As the three payed, they stood together at the side waiting for their drinks.

"Looks like we got the same things huh?" Cole said, stating the obvious.

"Yeah it looks like we did," Hunter responded, welcoming him into her little friend circle. As the three got their drinks they sat down at a table near the window closest to the door. They happily spent most of their Fridays like this.
