Try To Feel Good

Alex pulled himself back to the present, unwilling to continue thinking about those troubling months. He signed in at the front office, and then went to find his locker.

A group of freshman passed him looking terrified. His reputation preceded him. Alex had no doubt that news of his return would be all over the school before the day was out.

Alex found his locker, a sorry looking dented blue thing that had seen better days. Having wrestled the locker open, Alex proceeded to dump everything in it, save for his binder and weapons.

He had a total of three handguns, seven knives, and fifteen explosives (most disguised as erasers) on his person alone. Add in the disassembled rifle in his bag and....Well, he hoped security didn't take the rumors seriously.  He didn't want to arrested. Again.

A bell rang. Alex cursed. His first day back and he was already late.

English was first period, and after apologizing to the teacher, Alex took a seat in the very back of the class.

The teacher, a young woman of perhaps thirty, looked shell-shocked. She stuttered over his name in attendance.

"Aaallex Rrrideerr?"

"Present."

"For once." Michael Cook smirked.

The rest of the day went much the same. The usual; kids making fun of Alex, and the spy steadily ignoring them.

The next week went much the same. And the next. And the next. Soon Alex had been back for a full month, and people were now used to the sight of him. But this is Alex we're talking about. Of course it didn't stay that way.
