Escaping is like playing Jenga. It's easier than it should be to pull ahead, but even though you might be as close as possible to winning, you still have to be aware of the others, for they could send it crashing down in an instant.

Darkness woke me up in it's arms. I was still engulfed into this farmilar essence and it still had me in it's deep grasp. That voice that had warned me was now gone, lost just like everything else in my head and my head seemed empty. I heard someone moan to my left and my head turned to get ahold of it. But to my suprise, I failed. The waves were gone as soon as they had arrived and my vocal cords wanted to make a statement of their own.

"Ana?" They rattled in my throat, tickling the soft tissue that seemed to have been abused previously. My ears picked up a thin reply trying to travel through the air and it seemed as if it was deteriorating like sand on it's way. I became worried for her and I began to lunge in her direction, only to find my body numb and immobile, my head a heavenly exception.

The air smelt like lysol, lemony and clean. The smell became stronger and stronger with each second, and I willed for the potent smell to go away. My head was pounding and my nose was scrunched up in hope of blocking the fume. In a bright flash, the lights flickered on, revealing the same lab that I had been tortured in.

Without notice, the voices started wailing in the back of my head once more. The obnoxious noise built a wall between me and the outside world, blocking any and everything from my existance. I wanted so badly to lift my trembling hands to my head to strangle the noise. But whatever was numbing my limbs prohibited that. My skin began to tingle in a sharp and prickly wave and paralysis deminished from my body.

I sat up, my breathing heavy and dense. I yearned to look around, to find those who had ruined me and tear them to shreds. But all I saw was Ana. Shadows danced in the shaded windows of the room and I pounced to stop them, a sudden rush of aggression drowning me in it's wakes.

My face pressed the glass, the cool and slick surface providing ice to my firey flesh. I half-expected my face to sizzle and burn from the heat radiating off of it, but no such thing happened. I was being pulled out of possession and hands grasped my forearms. I was being pulled away from the window and back into hell. My face was turned towards Ana as a tall Superior entered the room, hovering a Rubik's Cube infront of him.

The colourful squares switched places and slowly, they came to form a solid wall of White.

"Hello, Diadrik," His slim eyes focused on me, fine wrinkles framing them in perfect harmony. His grey hair and beard complimented his facial structure as if they were born to be paired. His face turned away from me and came to focus on Ana, who was now aware of what was going on.

"Nice to see you again, Ana," His words echoed through the room quickly and landed hard in her ears. Her eyes widened and she seemed scared and truely frightened by this man. "Last time I saw you, you were so helpless," The Rubik's Cube he was holding shuffled back into a mized assortment of colours. "You were so dependent on us, but now, look at you.

"I never thought to see you as the rebelious type- I had always heard about how loyal and submissive you were," The Rubik's Cube began to turn and twist, "You were such a success that we thought we'd try and form an even better superior, one that was more powerful than any other but would still be controlled.

"As you can see, we hadn't even perfected you," The Rubik's cube broke and the mini cubes flew everywhere, "And if we don't have the formula correct, then everything falls to pieces," His eyes followed the cubes across the air until they slowly froze in place.

"Maybe Impurities can never be fixed," He shut his eyes to ponder it, "Or maybe it's just you."

You grasp my mind

Like you did that day

You won't let go
