"Prince Charles, are you ready sir? The ball is about to begin!"
"Oh why yes Jeffory, I am."
"Shall we?"
"We shall." Jeffory and I walk out of my dressing room and head towards the indoor balcony.
"What do you think sir?"
"It looks fantastic! You did a marvelous job." Jeffory had the entire ballroom decorated up quite nicely. A beautiful chandelier hung in the middle of the ballroom floor. Each table had a light blue tablecloth with a single red rose in a vase as the centerpiece. Each chair had blue bows tied out of sheer fabric. "It's stunning."
"Thank you sir. I couldn't have done it without the rest of your staff. Now if you don't mind, it's time to introduce you."
"Be my guest."
"Ladies and gentlemen, it is my great honor to announce the dashing prince himself, Prince Charles." I wave to the villagers as I head down the stairwell. The crowd is clapping and cheering for me.
"Prince Charles, so nice to see you." King Edward of Arrington stopped me at the bottom of the staircase.
"So nice to see you and your lovely queen. How are you Evelin?" I kissed the back of her hand.
"Very well, thank you Charles."
"My pleasure. Now please, enjoy yourselves this evening."
"We will, thank you." King Edward said.
I made my way around the ball. The villagers, kings, and queens from all over seemed to be having a blast. Looks as if the Eldridge ball was a success. Someone caught my eye though. She was absolutely breathtaking. I watched her enter through the castle doors. Her hair was brown and curled to the side. She wore a long, beautiful yellow gown that looked perfect on her. I instantly made my way towards her. I noticed as she stepped off of the last step, her slipper came off. She went to turn to put her slipper back on,
"May I help you?"
"Well thank you kind sir." She lifted up her dress and I slid the slipper back on her foot.
"May I ask your name?"
"My name is Rose."
"Rose, how lovely. I'm Prince Charles."
"It's nice to meet you Prince Charles."
"Would you like to dance?"
"Certainly." I grabbed Rose's hand and led her to the dance floor.
The entire night we danced and chatted, having the time of our lives together. Rose is so perfect, such a beautiful soul. In the middle of one of the final dances of the night, a huge, vicious, black dragon busted through the castle wall. The room became chaotic and the villagers were filled with fear.
"Knights! Knights! Attack!" I yelled. "Rose get down!"
One by one the knights came out and headed towards the dragon. The dragon was powerful and started defeating the knights quite easily. Then, a cloud of smoke filled the room. The once ferocious dragon turned into the evil Queen Sahara.
"Hello Prince Charles. We meet again. I told you I'd be back. I've been waiting to get revenge on you and your family. Now that I can shape shift, I'll have the pleasure of defeating you myself." Oh no, Queen Sahara has wanted revenge on my family since we ran her out of town. She caused havoc in our town, having villagers fear for their own lives. The black cloud of smoke returned and Queen Sahara was back to a dragon.
She breathed fire all over the room. Her roars echoed off the castle walls. My knights were getting defeated. Oh what to do, we clearly weren't prepared for this. As I turned around, I saw Rose stand up. She kicked off her slippers and grabbed a sword. Rose started running towards the dragon.
"No Rose! It's too dangerous!" She kept going. Rose went toward Queen Sahara dodging her fire breath. Rose swung her sword cutting the dragon's leg. Queen Sahara let out an angry roar and whipped her tail, knocking Rose into the wall.
Rose fell to the floor, but marvelously got back up. Queen Sahara's attention was already back on the other knights. So Rose climbed up the dragon's back and when Sahara realized it, she tried to shake Rose off. Rose was smart though, she clung onto Sahara's scales. Rose made it up to the dragon's neck, clinging on so she wouldn't get thrown off. Rose stabbed her sword into Sahara's neck to pull herself up. Sahara's painful shriek filled the room. Rose pulled out her sword, positioned herself, slid down the front of Sahara stabbing her in her heart.
Once again a black cloud of smoke appeared. When the smoke cleared, there Queen Sahara laid dead, with the sword in her heart. Rose had defeated the dragon and saved the village. A sweet, innocent girl like her took down a deadly creature. Rose out shined even some of the greatest knights.
"Rose, you were incredible. I had no idea you could defeat the dragon. It's truly an honor to be in such a brave girl's presence."
"It truly takes bravery and courage to stand up to a creature of that size. Let's all hear it for Rose!" Jeffory shouted. The crowd gave Rose the biggest round of applause.
"Really it was nothing. I do what I can to help those around me, even if it means slaying a beast like that."
"Rose, you are an example of true beauty and that's why I'd be honored to call you my queen."
"Why certainly Prince Charles." I grabbed Rose and kissed her. The villagers were cheering and like every true love story, we lived happily ever after.
