Prologue

The first book in The Crown and Throne Series: LINA

The kingdom of Abellona was a very beautiful kingdom adorned with so many types of riches and in it were different classes of people. The kingdom was surrounded by a great wall, which was it's first line of defense and had well trained knights and soldiers which made it both wealthy and almost impenetrable. As a result of this, everyone felt safe and went about their daily lives happy without fear of penetration.

In addition to these, there were hardly ever strife between the people. Class distinction was clearly defined and everyone lived and acted according to the class they belong to.

Indeed there was no cause for worry, or was there? One would wonder. Can the kingdom of Abellona really have stayed the perfect state? Well, maybe.

In the city of Arden, the people didn't live Lavish lives, but they lived well none the less.

Amongst them was a woman who didn't look like she belonged there. She had the beauty of a goddess and her body was perfect with every curve. Simply walking along the streets made men go crazy with every sway of her hips.

The day she arrived, the first thought of the people was that she was a goddess sent to them or probable a queen from some faraway land, after all, only someone with the status of a king deserved such beauty.

She had arrived under a veil made with very rich fabric with a slightly obvious bulging stomach. She was pregnant.

She had asked for help to be hidden, apparently the life of her unborn child was in danger and gladly, they had accepted her. It was not everyday they came across such.

Her name was Margaret, so she said and that was all she gave. No one knew of  where she came from or the situation surrounding her pregnancy.

Questions were asked but eventually they ceased and with time she became just another resident of Arden City.

Few months down and out popped a beautiful stunning baby girl. She was the exact replica of Margaret with eyes that looked oddly familiar. Where had they seen same type of eyes?

It was an unspoken question that also eventually left the hearts of the people, which Margaret was grateful for. It was the only thing that could link her to her 'secret'.

Margaret named her Angelina, for she was the angel to bring light in her dark dark life.

Seven years went by rather quickly and Angelina or Lina, as every one called her, was totally beautiful and a sight for sore eyes. Everyone loved her.

She had hair that shone like the sun and her eyes, were so blue that one could get lost in them.

She was tall for her age, much taller than other children her age. Everyone could see she would eventually grow to look just like her mother Margaret, who was tall and slender with a thin waist and rounded curves just in the right places.

Both of them had lived their lives in hiding, and with the help of a certain man, her knight in shining amour, she had secured a place to live and made their livelihood, selling in the market.

Everyday was another good day they weren't found, luck was still on her side but she knew that eventually, they would be but come what may, she would protect her child at all cost, maybe even at the cost of her own life. After all, where do you hide when he wants to find you?

The Structure of Abellona

In the kingdom of Abellona, there are three cities and in each city resides people of a particular class.

The first or high City is the City of Amaris where the high and mighty resides; the royal family, noble officers of the throne/inner court, the officers of the outer court and the Caelan Knights.

The second City - City of Aslan is the City for the middle class - the town chiefs, council members, appointed members to the court, the knights of Abellona and the high ranks of the general army.

The common City is the City of Arden, where the commoners and members of the general army resides. Including the blacksmiths, dress maker, brewer, etc.

No one can get into the city of Amaris, unless through Aslan. Guarding the entrance to the city of Aslan are guards and soldiers and guarding the entrance to Amaris, are knights and high ranking soldiers whose sole mission is to at all times, prevent whatever threat from getting into the high city.

At the edge of the Arden city, is a small town no one ever talks about. The town where the poorest of the poor resides, the part of the great Abellon kingdom where those considered filthy, the banished, the starved, rejected and the unworthy all reside. The place where the nobles like to dump their secrets, the place where other kingdoms never hear about. This place is referred to as the slum and is called the town of the Ryunn, or Ryunn City. These people eventually get picked off and sold as slaves.

The throne of Abellona holds the supreme power in the kingdom. Every decision made from the throne is absolute but the throne is also expected to receive council/advice, and to hear the voices of the people.

The voice of the throne is not only absolute in the inner court/throne room, but the throne also sits as head in the outer court were laws are executed.

While the throne might not have direct control over lower sections of the kingdom, reports are rendered, thereby giving the throne indirect control.

Although the throne and system of governance is structured to be without prejudice or discrimination, it has been know to be bent to apply to the will of the one who sits on the throne.

The Cealan knights are knights who attain their place as Caelan Knights by show of strength, valour and bravery. Selection involves a 5 days endless battle between contenders which produces few champions. Anyone from the knighthood or general army of Abellona can contend.

Kingdoms of ALfheim, Harvendur and Anemoia are neighbouring kingdoms.

This structure is a guide for the book and will help to eliminate confusion that may arise.
