                                                                                Chapter 1

"Yay! I can't wait to go!" I heard my younger sister scream as we were heading out to the car to go on vacation. I'm Miranda, and this is the start of my vacation diary. We are gpoing to a rental house in Cleveland, Ohio. Most of the girls my age don't keep a avcation diary, so I guess you could call me, different. I am 14 and I live in Washington D.C., Maryland. I get scared easily, and I can sort of sense when something is wrong. I call it my sixth sense. *Honk! Honk!* That's my parents! Time to go on my trip! I'm so excited!

Ugh. It's hard spending 6 hours in a car with my family. But, we finally made it! The house seemed better in my mind, though. There's a lot of vines surrounding the house, and it looks sort of run-down. I wish my parents would have let me see the house before we came, because then I wouldn't have driven almost seven hours. But, at least I get to be with my family. We started unpacking a little bit after we got there. My sister and I had to share a room, and it looked very creepy. I was sort of scared to stay in that room, and this house. Well, I guess I'll try to live through it.

                                                                                 Chapter 2

"Honey! Time for dinner!" I heard my mom scream up the stairs. It is only our first night here, and I already want to leave. I keep hearing noises coming from the bathroom, and they sounded like someone was growling at me. I felt my sixth sense kicking in. I asked my parents if I could sleep in their room. "Why?" My mom asked. "I doubt your sister wants to stay in there alone." I told them the whole story about how I heard growling. They said back, "Don't worry. We are going to go hiking in two days. I bet that will take your mind off of everything." I said okay and went back to my room.

I was awoken at 2 A.M. by something that sounded like footsteps coming from the attic. I woke up my sister and we went to go tell my parents. My dad wasn't in there, and my mom didn't remember him leaving the room. We went to go get flashlights so we could see what was going on up in the attic. I was probabl;y the most scared out of everyone. I was even more scared than my eight year old sister. Oh no. I feel my sixth sense kicking in again. Something bad is going to happen. I can just feel it. When we got up to the attic, my mom knocked on the door and said, "Honey? Are you in there?" She opened the door all the way. I almost fainted when I saw what was in there. It looked something like a possesed zombie. Was that my dad?

                                                                                Chapter 3

I was the first one to scream, and then run away. Then it was my sister, and then when my mom came out of shock, she came running too. then when we all ran away whatver that thing in the attic was started chasing after us. I could've sworn it was my dad, but with all the thoughts going through my head, I didn't know what to think. But the thing that I though was weird was that whenever I looked at it in the eyes, everything faded and turned to black, which was when I got even more scared. I never knew where it was when the light was gone. But, it was only a five second thing, so I only had to live five seconds without that thing biting me. A few minutes after we ran downstairs, my mom said something was wrong with her leg, so i went to go look at it. It turns out my mom got bit by that thing when she was running. So, I tried to lift her up and help her walk to the car so we could all go to the hospital or something. But, we weren't fast enough for that thing.

My mom's leg was getting infected, and I could tell because I could smell something like rotting flesh. She kept screaming at us for us to leave her and save ourselves, but I was not going out into the night by myself with my 8-year old sister.

I deicided to fight off the creature. i ran into the kittchen, grabbed a knife and a brrom and started running running towards the thing. The whole time I was thinking to myself, do it for my family, theyw ould do it for you. Even though that's your dad. It doesn't mean everyone else has to die too. I hit it in the head with the broom, which I guess only made things worse.

The monster got so angry at one point that he actually stood up and started running after me. I screamed and ran as fast I could, but then I remembered that I took a weaponry camp last summer, and that included throwing knives.

                                                                                Chapter 4

I tried to catch up farther than the monster so I could get in position. While I was running, I grabbed more knives on my way out just in case I didn't kill it on my first shot because I knew that was never going to happen.

I got into position on the front patio and aimed. Just remember everything they taight you in camp. I threw the first knife, and sure enough, it landed in the monsters chest. I threw the next three just to be sure, and by then, it was laying on the florr, dying.

I knew that it was my dad, so I started to cry and went to go say my goodbyes. "I'm sorry it had to end this way. It was either kill or be killed. I'm so sorry. I love you." I stabbed the last knife and it was dead.

                                                                                Chapter 5

I ran back inside to make sure my mom and my sister were okay. My mom was screaming in pain so I immediately ran to the house phone and called 911.

In less than 15 minutes until an ambulance showed up in our driveway. I told them that my mom's leg was getting infected and that it needed to be treated as quick as possible. I had to save my mom. I couldn't live without any parents.

They brought her onto the stretcher and into the amublance. I stood by her, holding her hand through everything-The surgery and the ride to the hospital. They told me to go wait in the lobby, but everytime I said the same thing. "I'm never letting go..."

After the surgery, I saw my mom get up in her wheel chair, all fixed up and safe. I told my mom that we needed to move, and she said that she had already called her parents and we are moving in with them.
