Prologue
Branches scraped against my bare arms and legs. Rocks cut into my dirty feet. The thumping of the pack was unbearable.
"Wrawl." As if on command one dog, a large mastiff, jumped at me trying to tackle me and snag a bite to eat.
"Crack" a gigantic branch fell onto the mastiff head.
A figure dropped next to me, from a hidden position in the dark shady trees, and runs beside me. We break out into the small plot of land flat until the city.
"Jam's a waiting," the boy calls racing ahead of me. He doesn't stay in the lead for long. Thanks to my long legs I can race ahead of him.
As promised, Jam awaits us at the edge of the city ready to pounce on any packers who dare come close. They don't know all the humans are gone. They don't know we're the only ones left. They don't know I stole two rabbits from them. they might.
