Izaya got up from a dreamless sleep feeling not in top condition.

He was still very much hungry, if not more, but at the very least he wasn't exhausted and could go on with his day.

He could afford to take a day off today, anyway.

When he got out of bed and trudged over to the bathroom to brush his teeth, he could've sworn something was different.

It felt like his canines were somehow... longer.

And a bit sharper too.

But... he shrugged it off. It must have just been his imagination.

He thought back to the night before, looking at the bite.

The informant remembered what he had done to escape.

He stabbed the girl—or creature—in the chest.

Where her heart would be.

She had died last night.

Even if it was just self defence, there was a chance he could get in trouble.

He masked his neck wound with some bandages for it to look like some odd nick and left the bathroom.

Izaya looked down to the jacket he'd left there the night before. The rough outline of it was hard to see, as it was quite dim in the room.

Walking over to the curtains and pulling them up should've been an easy task, but it felt like something in the back of his conscience was urging him not to.

Instead, he lifted just one blind.

An uncomfortable sting started in his hand where the sunlight had hit.

-What the hell?

He pulled his hand back to rub it. His other hand in stopped under the light and he looked at it cautiously.

It had the same effect.

Light, uncomfortable sizzling under his skin.

Izaya considered what kind of blood transmitted disease he had obtained.

His stomach grumbled again. He only now realized it was getting to be painful.

Everything in the fridge had once again looked unappetizing when he looked in. Nothing good in the cupboards, either. But he hadn't liked canned food to begin with.

The only thing he really needed to do was go to Shinra's and get himself looked at.

He lowered himself onto the couch, and leaned over to grab the remote. He immediately turned to the news channel, only hoping that they hadn't traced the death back to him.

After a few minutes of news repeats from the past few weeks, the report he wanted came on.

"–found in east Shinjuku was the body of a young woman, estimated to be around 17, but her age remains uncertain. The body still remains unidentified, and police are working hard on finding evidence as to who committed this atrocious crime."
