Gathered into the great hall, Emmeline listens to Sara, hardly understanding her over the loud buzzing of the four houses. Her mind flying through one person to another's. Damn my Legilimency skills. Emmeline was taught by none other than Professor Snape. Before he passed away they would have frequent lessons for Emmeline wanted to learn the skill her mother once had. She had finally mastered it before the war started.

Professor McGonagall steps up and clears her throat making the buzzing seize immediately.

"I would like to make a few announcements." The headmistress says calmly. "As you all know the up coming week you are allowed to go home. If you wish to do so, the train will be leaving in four hours from now so I suggest you start packing after Lunch. The library will only be open from eight to twelve due to rearrangements taking place. That will be it for now. Thank you." She finishes with a small smile and walks off.

No more than a second later food of all kinds blooms onto the four long tables in the great hall and the buzzing slowly gets louder again.

...

"Who gives us homework on the weekends anyway?" Sara groans, lazily writing an essay for charms class, sitting at a desk in the common room.

"A part of Voldemort lives inside them." Emmeline laughs causing her to almost smudge the black ink lining her parchment.

Finishing off her essay Emmeline packs her things into her bag while pulling out the old book she always has at hand. Turning the delicate pages carefully Emmeline begins reading from line one as she's done many times before.

Emmeline loves reading almost as much as she loves to imagine her mothers voice reading the old fading words instead of her own.

Waiting patiently for Sara, Emmeline decides to save her book for later, when she can have her thoughts to herself under the tree in the courtyard.

"I saw you cast that non verbal spell at the group giving Malfoy a hard time." Sara says matter-of-factly, dropping her quill and looking at Emmeline waiting for a response.

"You know I can't stand to see people hurt like that. Especially Draco. It's not his fault no one would take the time to listen to him. He's a good person Sara, I just know it. Have you noticed that every time they mess with him he never insults them? Not once. I just wish I could show him that someone cares without becoming a target myself." Emmeline finished with a distant look in her eyes, recalling the many times she's seen Draco stumble out of the bar or when he gets made fun of.

"If I didn't know any better it would almost seem like you like him." Sara wiggles her eyebrows with a smirk stitched onto her lips.

"What no! I do not like him...sure I would like to be friends with him and if one thing leads to another...wait no. I um..." Emmeline clears her throat. "I don't like him okay?" She lets out a long held breath eyeing Sara.

"Lovely." Sara smiles artificially, not believing her friend in the least. She likes him. Even if she won't believe so herself  Sara thought. She checks the old clock strung high above the fireplace.

"Shit Em! The train leaves in an hour. Do you want to help me pack?" Sara asks slyly eyeing Emmeline.

"Help as in do it all myself while you lounge your lazy arse on your bed?" Emmeline raises her eyebrows knowingly.

"Precisely my noble servant." The girls laugh and Emmeline rolls her eyes as they head up the right staircase into the girls dorms where the last of the Slytherins are packing for their long weekend at home.

Sara throws herself onto her bed as Emmeline shakes her head at her mental friend and begins packing Sara's clothes into her trunk.
