Grandad

The window was closed from the outside world so loud,

Frozen in place a perfect image made its artist proud.

The toys were spread across the floor ankle deep,

But the little girl was in the rocking chair fast asleep.

She was startled awake by a loud buzzing sound,

But all was well with grandad around.

He was in the kitchen humming away to his favourite tune,

She could hear him now even though he wasn't in the room.

She toddled forward on sleepy legs and made it through the door,

His figure by the stove had begun to fade but the ghost that was left made her heart soar.

Her aging mind had begun to forget,

The lost time that left regret.

But until they met again the ghostly shadows would suffice,

For after all they were quite nice.
