I woke up to the sound of my alarm and the annoying buzzes of my ringtone.
I groaned and grabbed my phone off of my bedside table.
My friends were all talking about how excited they were for school.
To be honest, I couldn't understand their excitement.
"But it's school😩😩" I texted then threw my phone on the ground to get dressed.
I was ready before my ride was here and decided to text one of my friends.
Good morning Ilona!
Good morning!
😃
I have a surprise for y'all today😈✨
Um... okay, that
doesn't sound
sketchy at all...😂😂
What is it??If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise silly!
I didn't respond. I didn't know how. She usually didn't act like this, she wasn't the type of friend that would care enough to actually surprise you.
For some reason it just gave me an uneasy feeling, and the loud rain hitting the pavement outside didn't help.
By the time I'd gotten into the safety of the school building, I was soaked.
As always, I was he first one to my locker so I waited for Nire and Ilona to roll in. And of course, we all knew Landry would be late.
0-12-28
I spun the little knob on locker, put my backpack away, and took out my math binder.
I waited for Ilona to get her binder and we headed into math together, placing our stuff on out desks and takin down our chairs. When we first get in the classroom, we were supposed to sit down and do our warm ups but that usually never happened.
The announcements went off right as Mrs. Holloway walked into the doorway.
Please stand for the pledge of the flag
We all placed out right hand on our hearts and recited the pledge.
On any normal day we were a pretty noisy class, but since it was a Thursday, we had math first in the morning, and it was raining heavily, we couldn't help but almost drift off to dreamland.
8:06. 25 more minutes until we would stop learning about percent discounts and what not.
Suddenly, Ilona stood up and asked mrs. Holloway to go to the bathroom.
"So which ones the better banana buy?" Mrs. Holloway asked. The response was a mumble of different answers from the class.
"The better banana buy!" She repeated, this time louder.
"A!" Everyone shouted, except the few that said B.
"Correct!" She said circling the choice A on the promethium board.
We advise all teachers to check their emails immediately. Thank you.
The intercom announcement was short but sounded important.
I sent a confused look to Landry who shrugged.
Mrs. Holloway walked over to her computer and checked her email. Her eyes widened, perhaps in shock.
"Everyone under the anchor," she ordered. Of course, she was talking about the blue anchor, the one that we'd huddle under in case of an emergency.
"What happened?!" I asked, panic laced in my voice.
"There is a threat inside the school," she responded and quickly turned out the lights.
We all sat, worried in the dark, the only noise came from the loud rain outside. I took out my phone and put it on the lowest brightness to text Nire, who was in science right now.
You safe?
Yeah I'm fine, you?
Yeah we're good
I breathed out a sigh of relief. I was glad we were all safe.
ILONA! I thought.
"Landry, Ilona's still in the bathroom." I whispered, sharply.
"Try texting her, maybe she's in another classroom."
I nodded.
Ilona! Where are you??
Are you safe?!?!I seemed like forever before she finally responded.
I'm hiding in the bathroom
Come in here!!!
I can't! I'm too afriad to leave
You need to before
something happens!!Okay
I'm outside the doorQuitly I reasoned with mrs. Holloway. Finally she let me open the door.
I tiptoed up to the door the loud rain getting louder, heavier with each footstep I made.
The dry air kissed my skin, goosebumps all over it.
I could feel the eyes of Landry and the rest of my class mates on me.
My hand rested on the doorknob, turning it slightly and pulling the door towards me.
The door creaked, and my senses became overwhelmed, my eyes widened, and my body trembled.
"Surprise"
There Ilona stood a knife in one hand and a phsycotic, sinister smile plastered on her face.
