My name is Lukas Adams. I am a junior detective. I'm president of the Detective Club at school. I'm not a prodigy or anything! But seriously, a LOT of people tend to call ME when something's going on. Like today, a simple Saturday. April 7th, 2017. I was in my hotel room of the "Empire State" hotel. All the rooms were small, one bed, television, bathroom, and a balcony. You can imagine. Why I was there? My family was at the verge of moving out and we had no where else to go. We'll be staying here for a long while. Anyways, the hotel manager, which we have made good friends with, knocked on the door.
I still haven't eaten breakfast. I thought. Then I remembered that I put a piece of bread in the toaster to.. toast. I pulled it out, one side soft as a cloud, the other burnt to a crisp. One side of the toaster was working, the other not so much! I stuffed it in my mouth, unlocked the door screaming: ITS OPEN!
With crumbs flying all over the place, I sat down on the bed waiting for him to tell me what's going on.
"There's someone waiting for you down in the lobby! I think they've been waiting for a long while. I think we should go talk to them, they seem to be in a rush!"I nodded in agreement with burnt, bitter toast in my mouth. I finally gulped it down once the elevator had. I asked him who it was.
"So who's here for me?"
"A minor!"
"A minor as in a child, or a miner as in a person who mines?""Well, both!"
And he was correct! A girl, seemingly my age, had been waiting in the lobby with a little headlamp. She also had a backpack, with what seemed to be a pick-axe inside? She had brown hair and seemed very tom-boyish, and she also had glasses. She waved as I got out of my glare.
"Hi! My names Sarah! It's means happiness in Arabic!", She says.
"My name is Lukas! I don't believe my name means anything, but it's still a pleasure to meet you!", I say."Your Lukas Adams right? The junior detective, the REALLY good one? Well I have a little mystery on my hands! Follow me!", Sarah says.
She takes me out into a cloudy day, full of rain and gloominess. Man, I love New Orleans. I followed her to her house. It had a 'narrow mine that becomes pretty open near the end' beside it. As I'd call it.
"So me and my dad found this mine a few years back and we've been getting our minerals from it ever since! INCLUDING GOLD!", She said.
"See that workshop over there?" She pointed "That's where we stored it! But my parents are somewhere important right now, so they hired someone to watch me. Ever since my parents left, the gold has been going missing."
My eyes opened at that part. Am I getting a feeling the 'Babysitter' has been taking it? It seems obvious.
"Here's the weirdest part! I always seem to find the stolen gold near the bedroom farthest from the stair case. That's where my 'Babysitter' is staying."
She air-quoted babysitter. Like she didn't like the title. Although I wouldn't like it either.
"I have the ONLY key to that workshop." Sarah said.
"Bye any chance did you let her borrow the key? If she didn't already just use THAT, maybe she made a copy of that key?" I said.
"No I haven't" She gave me a 'Why would I ever do that' glare. "But it's possible she stole it from my bag while I was asleep!"
"Possible! Welp, we only have two options. We can stay up all night, and see if she returns the key back into your bag, OR we could straight up sneak into her room and look for it."
Sarah stood there thinking.
//And that's were I'm leaving off. If you want we could turn this into a vote and I could tally up the comments. But I'm too lazy. And plus like, no one reads these! Sooo... ya your just gonna have to wait and see! Bye!\\
