Percy's POV

I stood in the waiting room. I'd been waiting here for nearly 5 1/2 hours. I wanted to be in the delivery room, but the doctor said I had to wait. I was worried sick about Lauren. I had only known Lauren for a few months before we started going out. Just like we had only been going out for a few months when we found out she was pregnant. She and I were worried sick about how our blood would make the baby's life very dangerous. See, Lauren was demigod, like me, except she was a daughter of Apollo. She wanted our child to have a better future than being hunted by monsters every day of her life. So, we decided to be there for one another, for our child's protection.

"Percy Jackson?" Called a nurse.

"Here! I'm right here!" I said as I ran towards her, " How are they?"

"They are both fine. Would you like to see your daughter?" I exhaled as I nodded. We walked down a few hallways before we reached the viewing window. I could feel my face lighten up when I found my daughter. Grace Jackson. The adorable baby right in front of me.

"Is it OK if I take her to go see her mother?" I asked the nurse. She nodded and handed me my dainty daughter. I felt like I was going to break her if I moved to much. I walked down the hall until I found Lauren's room. I knocked on the door. No reply. I opened the door to see if she was sleeping. Except, no one was there. I walked into the room, only to see a note on the bed.

Dear Percy,

I'm sorry. But I can't do this. I can't be a mom. I don't do well with babies, never have. I don't know what made me think now would be different. I only want what's best for my child, our child. That is why I am leaving. Not only will I be leaving you and Grace, but I'll be leaving New York. Don't come after me.

Love,

Lauren

I just stood there in shock. I didn't know what else to do. I sat down on the bed, tears welling in my eyes. I knew that I would never be like Lauren and abandon our child. I had to be there for her no matter what. I will never leave.
