“Yes. Hello?”

I woke up with the vibration of my phone above my head and without looking at the caller I.D., I answered it with a broken tone.

“Did I wake you up?”

I creased my forehead in confusion. A man is on the line and I don’t recall having a close connection to any man, except my own father. I sighed before I answered again.

“Who’s this? It is.” I looked at the clock to check the time. “8 am in the morning for you to call.”

The man on the line laughed a little.

“Seriously? This is Reg. You haven’t saved my number?”

“Ow. Reggie. What’s the matter? It is only 8 in the morning. And it is Sunday, a rest day.”

I answered annoyingly.

He laughed again. Oh My Goodness, he is enjoying this for sure.

“Okay okay. I’ll hang up. I just want to say good morning to you Lucy. Have a great day. And God bless.”

I rolled my eyes subconsciously and I know he’s smiling from ear to ear like he used to. I dropped my phone on my bed after he ended the call. I covered my eyes with my right arm as the stray of lights from the window started to blind me. Reggie had been texting and chatting me for months now, two months to be exact. We’re close actually; I just hate receiving a call at this type of hour, especially during Sunday and he knows that. He just really likes teasing me. Don’t get us wrong. Reg and I are not a thing; I know who he likes, and the story behind it. There are just some instances that people thinks that we’re actually together.

I sit up on the side of the bed and lazily reached out for my eyeglass. I stood up and did my morning routine. I am brushing my teeth when a playful smile formed in my lips; ‘Calling me just to say Good Morning, huh’. Okay, I’ll admit it, I think I like him. Well, who wouldn’t? He is God fearing, tall, dark and handsome, though he’s quite thin and can really get weird sometimes. Sadly, we’re not on the same page, and I think we will never be.

-----

A message popped up on my phone. It is from Reggie. We’d been chatting for a month now and I am comfortable talking to him and even sharing with each other our darkest secrets. I smiled as I picked up my phone, earning me some teasing remarks from Raine. Yes, you heard it; I am with Raine and my former friends. We got some reconciliation though Nica and I were still awkward with each other. Mae and company completely understood when I decided to be with the other group. And somehow, Raine’s clinginess and Reggie’s messages distract me from being depress.

“Hey, Lucy. I think I am in love.”

My eyes widen but eventually, I also smiled weirdly. I can see Raine eyeing me suspiciously in the corner of my eye. I hurriedly typed a reply.

“Well, that’s new. Who must be the lucky one?”

My eyes are focused on my phone. He’s a fast typist since he also loves to play online games, which drove us closer to each other before, way back when I was still in Block D.

“I knew you’ll ask me about it. But I guess, I am not ready to tell you about that person. One thing is for sure; that person is close to me.”

I laughed silently on my own. I love guessing game and I am already having a hint about the person he is pertaining to.

“How close? Is that person your classmate?”

I am really intrigued and he can’t leave me hanging.

“You’re really good at guessing. But I think you should already stop hinting. Don’t worry, I’ll tell you once I’m ready.”
