Chapter 14 - Popcorn, what else...?!

I wrung my hands together furiously, as I waited outside the O2L house for Jc to answer.

I was really worked up about it now and the long drive here didn't help.

All I could think about was Sawyer and Joey, and the fact that I had probably ruined their friendship. I felt so guilty and there wasn't really anything I could do; or was there?

"Sky...." Jc's voice interupted my guilt-filled thoughts.

"Oh, sorry...um, hi?!" I stuttered back.

He gestured for me to come in. He obviously, sensing my deep thought, stayed silent for a few minutes; giving me time to collect my thoughts together, as we sat down on the couches.

"Do I wanna know...." Jc attempted to sing a line of the Artic Monkeys song 'Do I wanna know?' It might of been out of tune and totally off pitch but it did make me snigger a little.

"Well....if you insist...make your-self comfortable!" I said putting my legs up on the sofa.

Jc did the same and he looked intently at me.

"It's all my fault, Jc. They're fighting right now because of me, because I had to have all those drinks, I had to sleep with him...if I had pretended to be ill or something, I wouldn't even had to go and none of this would of happened! But it happened, and its my fault! What am I going to do!?" I rapidly exclaimed to Jc.

He wore a confused expresion but in comparison to his voice, he talked very calmly, "Who are 'they'?!"

I took a deep breath before answering, "Joey and Sawyer."

"Okay...explain it again but this time slower...." He took hold of my hand and encouraged me to explain again.

"Jessie took me out clubbing for an early birthday party, I got drunk, I met Sawyer and before I knew it...I was lying underneath him a-and..." My voice cracked towards the end and I felt hot tears staining my cheeks, "..they hate each other now but I don't know why."

"Shhh....it's okay Sky, don't cry...come here." He soothed and I edged closer to him as he enveloped me in a warm hug.

I guess Jc was silently judging me about sleeping with Sawyer, but being the caring person he is, he had kept his mouth shut. I was kinda surprised but also very grateful that he hadn't asked more questions. He probably didn't want to upset me further!

"I-I heard him and Joey when I left....they're still fighting, it's a-all because of m-me and my stupidity!"

"You're not stupid Sky.....stop blaming yourself, they might be arguing about something totally different!" he said as we broke apart from our hug.

"Y-yeah, I suppose..." I said, half-heartedly.

Jc got up started walking out the room before shouting over his shoulder, "Grab a couple movies!" before he walked out.

I scanned the rows of DVDs he had and picked out four comedies.

I located the DVD player and opened the first DVD case, took out the shiny disk and attempted to place it in.

Unfortunately for me the DVD player had other ideas.

Fortunately for me Jc came back in, put a bowl on the sofa and ordered me to sit down, whilst he sorted out the DVD player.

"Remind me why we are watching films!!" I enquired as Jc pressed buttons at random on the DVD player.

"To get your mind off whatever is on your mind. Simple." Jc replied.

"How will this help?!?"

"It's helped before....with other people."

"Is this what you do to get your mind off things?" I was determined to know more about Jc, so we could be closer and I was testing now, to see how far I could go, before the shutters would go down.

"Maybe, sometimes...." He mumbled trying to avoid anymore questions like that, I sensed that and that I needed to change the subject.

I looked in the bowl, "What's this?!" I asked.

"Popcorn, what esle...?!"

I rolled my eyes, "Thanks Captain obvious, I know what popcorn looks like! What's the flavour?"

"I dunno....salt and vinegar?"

I huffed, putting on my grumpy face and after not being able to hold it for long, gave up and snuggled down on the sofa as the first movie started.
