Ana sat on the couch in my office, listening attentively to my rant."The man is out of his mind. He had the audacity to threaten me and give me a deadline to decide like this was some sort of.... spelling bee. The man is a ..."
"Sexy beast," Ana interrupted flashing me her signature smirk. She held a head shot of Lukah that came with the file on of my men had gathered for me on Lukah Romanoff.
I scowled at her and snatched the picture from her hands.
"I mean look at him he is sooo.... Well I mean he looks... he's too..."no matter how I looked at the picture, I couldn't find anything wrong with Lukah's appearance.
His black wavy hair brushed against his light brown forehead perfectly, accenting his deep blue eyes and a gracious amount of stubble crowed his sharp jaw.
His lips were defined, his face was sharp and naturally contoured to perfection.
I looked at Ana, who stared at me knowingly. My face flushed and my ears turned red. I threw the picture onto her lap in mock disgust, which made her burst out laughing.
"Your not the most convincing actress," she teased. "I'm not saying to marry him Luciana but if you do decide to; your not marrying an ogre."
"Thanks for clearing that up Ana, your advice and counsel is always oh so ... helpful," I replied sarcastically, while sorting through files.
"Look the gang is progressively going bankrupt. Al nera is the most powerful Italian gang in the world, merging our gangs will only help. I love you Luciana but this is far beyond what you want. We watched our fathers create, run and fight for this gang. Don't let that work go to vain," Anastasia pleaded.
It was true; we had watched our fathers' run this gang. When Ana's dad, uncle Maseo, past away when we were ten, my dad lost his best friend and adviser. He tried his best to run the gang by himself but it was never the same.
It was now my responsibility wether I liked it or not and I had to take care of the gang.
"I'll do it. I'll discuss it with him in the morning," I croaked trying to swallow my tears, even though I know Ana could sense my displeasure.
Ana walked towards me and enveloped be in a gentle hug. "I'll give you some space." With that she left and I waited for the faint click of the door lock.
With shaky hands, I picked up the telephone on my desk and dialed the number reluctantly. Nervously, I played with the twisty wire of the phone as it ringed and silently prayed he wouldn't pickup.
The ringing noise stopped and a deep voice sounded through the phone.
"Hello Luciana."
2 hours later
I was back where I started, sitting before him. But this time his lips were bent in a triumphant smile and eyes held a glint of amusement.
I felt as if this was a submission rather than agreement as he stared at me like a predictable child.
"Mmm. How did I kno-?" Lukah started but I interrupted his mockery.
"I am not a woman to be belittled Lukah. I came here to discuss the details of the agreement, that's it. Do not make the mistake of thinking you influenced my decision by your childish threats. I made a decision based on what would be best for my own. Therefore, what ever victory you think you've accomplished or the leverage you think you have over me; it is incorrect. You don't control me," I spat with as much venom I could muster.
