Midnight Winter

Humming with power, the dark can't touch us.

Visions flitting here and there,

Fancies springing forth from broken bows and shadowed embankments.

It is peaceful.

Ice glistening along outstretched limbs,

Reflecting back my lights as I travel through winter land.

I shift, and the engine roars.

We are a team in solitude,

You are an extension of my will as I seek answers in the emptiness.

What lies beyond the next bend?

Where have I come from?

What does life mean in these very moments?

It is too quiet.

I click on the radio,

Thoughts washed away in a rhythmic jumble of guitar riffs.

Ah, bliss.
