I Digg You (Daveed Diggs X Reader)

Chapter 3

Over the course of the next few months, you and Daveed become really close. You practically spend every day with each other. You and Rick also start talking again and have met a few times. Mostly coffee shops or a park, but tonight, he has asked you to go out to dinner with him at an expensive restaurant.

"You could have a fun night at my place. We could watch movies and eat candy." Daveed offers.

"That sounds really fun, but I'm having dinner with Rick tonight." You reply.

"You shouldn't date him, he sounds like a douchebag." Daveed mumbles. You had feelings for him but you knew he didn't feel the same way.

*FLASHBACK*

You went over to Daveed's apartment for your guys' movie night. Your knock three separate times but no one opens the door. You know he's home though because you can hear voices coming from the apartment. You use the key from under the doormat and unlock the door. "Daveed?" you say cautiously in case it wasn't Daveed that you heard.

"Oh hey y/n. We're in the living room."

What does he mean we're? You walk in and see Daveed on the couch with some girl cuddled all up on him. Inside, your heart shatters into millions of pieces.

"Heyyy Daveed. Who's this?"

"This is my friend Maria(Yes I did)"

"Oh. Well hi, nice to meet you."

"You too."

"Y/n, I was wondering if it was ok if Maria could join us in movie night?"

"Oh yeah. That's fine. The more the merrier." You guys get the movie started and you can't help but sneak glances at them. One time you even met eye contact with Daveed. Because you sat on the other couch, you managed to text one of your other friends to see if they could pick you up.

Not even an hour into the movie you got up and lied, "Hey, I have an emergency. My co-worker needs my to cover their shift. I have to go."

"Oh ok. Well, we should do this again. It was nice meeting you y/n." Maria stated

"Same here."

"Bye Daveed. Bye Maria"

"Bye."

"Bye."

Daveed's POV of the flashback.

Tonight was movie night for y/n and I. I decided to invite one of my old pals Maria. Y/n is a great girl and I really want to make a move but I don't she likes me the way I do because she has been spending a lot of time with some Rick guy. I wanted to make her jealous. I'm not sure that this is the best approach, but it's too late now. Maria knew about the plan and was helping me.

Y/n walked in and was surprised to see someone else. I introduced them, then got the movie started. I kept on glancing over at y/n to see her reaction. She looked pretty focused on the movie except for the one time we made eye contact. She said she had to cover a shift at work. We said our goodbyes and then she left. Once she did, Maria paused the movie.

"I don't think this was a very good idea. She seemed weirded out and a bit sad."

"I know. Now I regret it. I just wanted to make her jealous so she'd have feelings for me. I didn't want to make her weirded out. She might even start dating someone now!"

"It's ok Diggs. Just tell her how you feel and everything will be fine."

"But that's the problem. I don't know if she feels the same about me and I don't want to ruin my friendship with her because I have these feeling that may not be reciprocated."

"Tell her. That's all I can say."

*End of flashback*

"You've never even met him Daveed! He's a nice guy. Plus, this isn't even a date."

"Oh yeah? Then what do you call it?"

"Dinner with a friend."

"It's a date. You don't dress this nice when we get dinner together" Daveed retorted. There were hints of jealousy and anger in his voice. This actually made you quite happy.

"Well call it what you want, I'm still going. Now, stop arguing with me and help zip me up." You stated as you were struggling to reach the zipper. He walked over and you could feel his breath on your neck and his warm hands on your back as he trailed down to get the zipper. You guys made eye contact in the mirror but then broke it.

"Thank you, Daveed." You whisper

"Hey. I'll always be here for you, y/n."

"I know. Thank you. I'll always be here for you as well."

"So uh, have fun at your dinner." He said looking down while blushing

"Thanks. So, are you just going to stay here at my place while I'm out?" You joked

"Actually, yes. That's precisely what I plan to do. Be safe and text me if you need to be saved from him."

"Ok, I will. Bye Diggs."

"Bye y/n."
