He hadn't known what they'd meant by fun was attacking a random kid on the street.
The boy had just been walking, headphones in, toward what Tial assumed to be his house. The guys Tial was following around like a lost puppy had yelled out and knocked the kid to the ground, and would have gone through his bag and punched his face in if Tial hadn't stepped in.
He put his hand on the 'leader's shoulder and shoved him away."Oi, dude," he yelled. "What the hell? I didn't know this is what you meant when you said fun"
The 'leader' - Gavin, his name was - barked a laugh. "What, new kid's too pussy to have some fun? Too much of a skirt to punch someone?"
The others jeered and booed, cursing at Tial and waving their fists at him like lunatics.
Tial just shook his head and stepped forward, left fist moving fast to connect with Gavin's jaw. Gavin stumbled back a few steps, hand clutched to his face, but he steadied himself in only a few moments. His glare was murderous.
He rushed toward Tial, and then the two of them were thudding to the ground and Gavin's fist was shooting towards Tial's face again and again. Tial's hands were on Gavin's shoulders, struggling to push him off, but the punches kept raining down. With a grunt, he gave a shove and they rolled. Tial raised his fist and punched.
He stood up and groaned. His nose was bleeding, cheek was throbbing, head was pounding. Tial stepped away from them, hands over his nose in an attempt to stem the blood flow. Behind him, Gavin had pushed himself to his feet and stood glowering. He muttered something about "fucking asshole" and "shitty fucking newbie", and shoved Tial's shoulder before motioning to his 'gang' and stalking off down the street.
He put his hands to his face, Tial noticed, meaning Tial had injured him. The thought made him smile. He turned again, and noticed the boy the others had attacked still lying on the ground, looking scared. Tial offered him a smile, though it probably looked rather terrifying with his broken nose and the blood running into his mouth. He extended a blood-covered hand, and surprisingly the other boy took it. Tial pulled him to his feet.
"Uh..." The boy wiped his hand on his jeans. "Thank you"
"It's uh... Okay. I guess. Fuck, my face hurts..." Tial muttered, bringing his hand up to his nose once again. "I'm Tial Rohn, by the way."
His voice sounded horrible, and blood dribbled out over his lip as he spoke.
The other boy just gave a nod. "Tirul. Tirul Pann."
Tial gave another awkward, teeth-covered-in-blood smile. "Your name sounds cool, dude." And then, "Shit, my mum's gonna kill me."
Tirul motioned toward a large house on the far end of the street. "Did you er... Want to come and clean your face up? You look like absolute hell."
"I feel like absolute hell." He grumbled. "And yeah, please. That'd be great"The house was massive, and expensive-looking. Tirul lead Tial down a long hall, past walls covered in gold-framed photographs and doors with gleaming handles. Tial marvelled at it all, mouth agape. He almost stumbled into three walls, and actually hit the doorframe with the back of his head when Tirul showed him the bathroom. He gave a nervous laugh and shook his head, stepped over to the sink. When he raised his gaze to the mirror, he cringed, and then groaned. Facial expressions hurt. His nose was definitely broken, and his left cheek was black and purple with bruising. The skin had split, too, and a line of dried blood ran down the middle of it. The blood from his broken nose ran over his lips and down to his chin.
He reached out and turned on the tap, and cupped his hands under the water. He gingerly washed the blood around the bruising from the split skin, wincing when his hand pressed against the bruising too hard. He washed off the blood from the rest of his face, rinsed his mouth out, and turned.
"Thank you."
He gave a grin. Much better now the blood was gone, though his face still looked terrible.
"Ehh... No problem" Tirul mumbled from the doorway, and motioned for Tial to follow him back down the hallway. So he did, and the whole way he stared in awe at the expensive decorations in Tirul's home. They stood awkwardly in the front doorway, neither saying anything, before Tial grinned. "I got my face punched in for you, you'd better appreciate it"
Tirul just mirrored his grin, all of a sudden seeming like a very different person. "I'm sure the blood and bruising's an improvement, Tial. You should be thanking me"
Tial laughed, and shook his head with a smile. "My face was amazing, dude. Anyways, I've gotta run. I'll see you around."
Tirul stepped back, hand on the door, ready to close it. "I'm sure it was. Bye, then."
And with that Tirul shut the door and Tial turned around to go back home, humming to himself as he walked through the rain.
Hey, everyone! This is just a chapter up early, any more of the book won't be up for a couple of weeks, at least. But yeah, just so anyone reading this knows, this isn't being put up properly yet. This is just so we don't forget about it and slack off on writing.
Soon, though!
