Camilla
I honestly don't care about anything anymore, I lied on my bed and thought.
Two minutes later, I found my face covered in tears. I rubbed them off harshly. I hate myself, why am I always crying? Dad would've wanted me to be strong.
'BEEP! BEEP!' I slammed the alarm on the table and dressed up quickly.
I stared at myself in the mirror, mascara from last night turned into black tear streaks on my face, my eyes red and huge. Ew. I quickly went and washed my face, but there were still black bags under my eyes. No one cares anyways.
'Breakfast is ready!' Mum, no, her name is Layla, called from downstairs. Ugh, she's so annoying. Ever since dad passed away, it's been hell staying with her. Honestly, I hate her, sometimes I'm pretty sure that I'm adopted.
Jacob, my younger brother, and Layla were eating already, I feel like I'm an outsider just by looking at them. I grabbed my bag and headed to the door without talking.
'Where do you think you are going?' shouted Layla.
'School?' I said impatiently.
Layla put her fork down loudly and stands in front of me, 'Do you mind showing some respect?'
'Yes, I actually do mind. Now do you mind stepping aside so I can go to school?'
Jacob slammed his plate on the table and walked over, 'it's your fault you know, why are you blaming mum?'
'Jacob!' mum, no, Layla said warningly.
I slipped on my shoes and I was out in a second.
It was, actually, my fault that dad passed away. It was a rainy day, on my sixteenth birthday. Dad went out driving, alone, to pick up my present. He wouldn't go on that day if I haven't asked for it. On the way, a drunk truck driver bumped into dad's car and the ambulance came too late.
I blame this on the truck driver and Layla, the truck driver was the one driving when he was drunk and took dad's life away, Layla was the one that let dad go alone to pick up my present. But I'm the centre of it, if I didn't ask for my present on that day, dad wouldn't have gone out and would still be alive.
The loud chatters woke me up from my thoughts, I shook my head and tried to clear my mind.
'WELCOME TO TOWNSVILLE STATE HIGH SCHOOL" I lifted my head and saw the banner hanging up high.
'Great! First day!' I murmured sarcastically.
I took a deep breath and walked.
'Hey, Cam!' Aria walked towards me from the bench she was sitting on with our group, her beautiful blonde hair shined in the sun.
Aria and I have been best friends since we were little and we've know each other our whole life. She's been there for me whenever I needed her and I'm so grateful to have her as a friend.
'Hey!' I smiled.
'How are you?' She asked.
'Fine, thanks.'
The rest of the group walked towards me. I'm not that popular, but I'm not lame either, at least I have my group with me.
'Hey Cam, I'm so glad you're back!' Georgia, my second best friend shouted.
I smiled, 'I'm back girls! Now where do I get my schedule?'
'Go to the reception. Senior.' Aria yelled, 'I need to get mine, too.'
'Let's go.' I grabbed my bag and walked towards the reception with Aria.
'So how have you been, really?' Aria asked understandingly.
'Not that good to be honest, Aria. But I'm trying to be stronger, dad would've wanted that.' I forced a smile.
'You know, I miss him too. Your dad, he was a nice person. I'm really sorry that this happened.'
'Thank you, it means a lot.' I thanked her and we hugged.
The lady at the reception gave us our schedule and we checked if we have any same classes. I realised that it's not my schedule, it belongs to Noah Patton.
I nudged Aria and pointed to the name, 'hey, have you heard of him?'
'No, who is that?' aria asked back.
'I don't know, he must be new.'
'Why would anyone change schools in junior year? That's weird, dude.' Aria said confused.
'Yeah, I better go back and get the right one.'
'I'll come.'
'Don't worry, you can head off. I'll be fine.' I assured Aria and she headed off.
I walked towards the reception, and heard the receptionist fussing about schedules, 'Noah, I'm so sorry, I think I messed up your schedule with a student just before you.'
I smiled, ha, bet that's me.
I knocked the door and entered, 'Excuse me, but I think I got the wrong schedule.' I asked politely.
'Oh, Camilla! There you are! I gave you the wrong schedule, too, didn't I?'
'I've got Noah Patton's?' I asked.
'That's me.' A boy standing on my left and said, 'and I've got Camilla Claire?'
'That's me.' I smiled.
We swapped schedules and he touched my hand, I immediately felt a spark.
I took my hand away quickly and looked at him, then I got lost in his deep ocean blue eyes. It felt like he's got a lot of secrets, like he never opened up to anyone and keep every thoughts to himself.
We stared for three seconds, but that felt way long. I pulled away and thanked the receptionist, then left.
Who is he? Why do I feel like that I want to investigate his secrets. And most importantly, why do I feel that we are alike?
