"What's happening?" "Check the monitors!" "Take notes everyone! Oh my, her eyes." "What about them? Let me see." Silence. "She's waking up. Ladies and Gentlemen we may have a chance. She's coming back to us. Write this down, 'After six months of working with her, Theo Deed is coming back to her reality." "Wonderful ma'am. Absolute brilliance! This will be on the Trons for a long-" "We're losing her ma'am!" "She's slipping back!" "No! She can't be! We can't lose her again! We've been so close for so long, and this is our chance! Now move!" I only heard silence for a few more seconds.  But then I someone says, in a soft, encouraging voice, "Come on Theo, come back to us. You know you're not supposed to be there, you know where your world is. Come back to us baby." Silence.

"I need medics! Stay with us, now, stay with us." I woke up on the street, my head throbbing with pain. My vision was blurry, but I managed to look up at a police officer that was holding something cold to my head. "W-Where am-" "Don't talk." He picked up his walkie talkie and said, "We need more medics now, I have a young girl with me, severally injured in the right leg, and minor damage to the head. The arm looks bruised too, possibly broken, she needs medical attention immediately." "What h-happened? Where, where am-" "I said don't speak, I'll tell you everything in just a minute. Don't worry." He put the cold thing down and called over another officer to help him work on getting those medics here ASAP. The officer he had spoken to told him to go over and talk to the chief, she would stay here with me. I heard the man's footsteps on the pavement, slowly fading away as the girl's voice became clearer in my mind. "It's going to be ok, sweetheart, someone's coming soon. Just hang in there baby." I turned my head towards the comforting voice, my vision slightly less blurry, I saw a girl with bright gold eyes, light brown hair, and caramel toned skin. She smiled at me and put a hand on my head, which instantly became cold once more. I'm sure I winced, because she exclaimed, "I'm sorry sweetie." I stared at the smiling lady and figured, maybe she would give me some answers. The other police officer didn't seem as reasonable, or as intent on telling me anything. But maybe that meant he had a significant reason for saying nothing. "What's, going, going, o-on?" The girl's smile wavered slightly. "Can't you remember?" Remember what? My throat became dry and my voice was hoarse as I said, "No." The girl looked at me worriedly, as if debating whether or not she should tell me the information she has been granted access to, and not I. She placed a hand on my face, which was burning up from frustration and heat. "It was a truck." She said.
"It was coming down the street at the same time your car had began to move at the green light. We came here after getting a call from a witness at the station. I'm sorry sweetie." I felt my stomach clench, my eyes widen, and my hands clench. A truck... We turned... A call from a witness... "My sister." I said at once, "My mother, my father, where are they? Her bear, she needs her bear. My mom, I need my mom, my dad, I need my dad. Where are they? Whe-" I began to cough. "Calm down, calm down. I will find your sisters bear for her, I promise." "But... are they... f-fine?" I spoke in between coughs. The lady looked down at her hand, the one on my now pale cheek. "Your sister is fine. She suffered minor damage. She'll be headed to the hospital as soon as the ambulances arrive. Your mother and father are alright as well, but they received the greatest damage and will be on the first ambulance to the hospital to receive surgery straight away." I looked away and closed my eyes contently. They're all right. "Now, that bear, what does it look like?" I turned my head back to the girl, concern seeped into her eyes. "It- It's a brown bear. Raggedy, and it has beady black eyes and a few sewn on patches of plaid fabric." Then the slight bit of concern in the girl's eyes became hope, hope and joy. "Does the bear have a name?" "Pip." I said. "She likes to call it Pip." "Pip. Alrighty, mission Pip is a go. As soon as I'm done with mission...?" "Aster." I said, giving the lady my name. "Ok, Aster, as soon as the ambulances come, I'll go find Mr. Pip." I smiled slightly, picturing the joy on my sister's face when she finds that her bear is safe, back in her small, pale arms. I pictured our family happy together, like in the family photo's back at the house. Or did we have those? I wondered. Where was our house? I ignored this, thinking it would come sooner or later. I thought instead of how soon, we'd be healthy again, all together, everyone normal again.
Then, I was lost in a world.
