It's been ten years to the hour. In twenty minutes my bill's gonna come due, and I don't think I want to pay it. I should start from the beginning. My name's Nico, and I sold my soul to Satan (this is the part where you say "Hi Nico,"). Yeah, may not have been a good idea in the long run, but hey, least I got through college without student loans to deal with. The deal was, I get to go through college no debt, but in ten years my soul gets collected. Last year, I started trying to find a loophole to extend my time, but over the past few months I've come to accept my fate.
10 minutes left. I decided to clean my apartment because who wants to be found in a messy apartment. 5 minutes of cleaning later I sat down in my favorite chair for what I assumed would be the last time. I looked around at the place that I had called home for the past 5 years and as I looked around my vision started to go red. I checked my watch. 30 seconds left. Then the door to my coat closet opened and I saw him. Lucifer himself wearing a black blazer, a dark red shirt underneath. The fabric of the coat looked as though it was constantly shifting. He wasn't what is typically depicted with the horns and red skin and leathery wings as well as a tail. He had human skin, which appeared as whatever race you were (you know, so you'd feel comfortable while damning yourself to Hell), so for me he appeared as caucasian. His eyes were a cold red color and his hair was slicked back as though he had just come from a business meeting.
"Hello Nico," He smirked with his British accent.
"Come to collect me?" I asked rhetorically. Of course he came to collect me, why else would he be here?
"Sadly no. I need a favour," He shrugged.
"What kind of favor?" I wondered.
"Oh, nothing bad," He assured me, "Just need you to corrupt someone for me,"
"Corrupt who?" I inquired, I saw the clock on the wall behind him turn 10:31 pm. I was supposed to be gone by now.
"Nosy little thing, aren't you?" He joked, "Also if you accept this deal, you get your soul back. And a few new bits."
This caught my attention. The prospect of Lucifer giving someone their soul back was unheard of throughout all the lore I'd seen. If I accepted this deal, I wouldn't have to live my life like a timebomb. I could actually make friends, get a girlfriend or boyfriend. I would be able to live.
"Who do I get to corrupt?" I asked, surprised at the word choice I used.
"Well you know how there's the pope?" He smiled revealing his fangs.
"Oh no," I said as I began to rethink my decision.
"Yeah, you're gonna corrupt him. I can't exactly do it myself and none of my demons can either. The Vatican's warded against us. But you, my little friend, you'll be able to get through," He sneered.
"How'll I get there?" I ask worried about the prospect of going to Italy. I didn't have the money for this trip.
"Well those new bits I mentioned," Satan smirked, "It's a demon form. You'll get the wings, claws, eyesight, everything!"
"How do I activate it?" I asked standing up.
"Just concentrate." The Devil advised, "It helps if you focus on the bad things in life. You know, plague, death, politicians."
I closed my eyes and thought of all the bad things I had experienced. The fact that I had isolated myself so as to not hurt anyone when the 10 years was up. The terrorists of the Middle East. My sixth grade science teacher. That last thought had triggered a bit of back pain, which sort of hurt, but not enough to cause me to worry. I opened my eyes, but the hands I saw weren't mine. These hands were a chalky gray color, a sort of red glow underneath the skin. The fingers were gnarled and skinny with wicked sharp, black claws at the end. I looked into the mirror and saw what I had become. My new wings were similar to a bat's wings, my clothes hung around a skinnier frame, but I feel like my face had changed the most. I normally have a soft look, but my demon form had much more of a sinister look. My eyes were hazel before, but they had changed to be yellow in this form. It was weird to say the least.
"Mmm, lookin good," Satan purred, "Anyway, have fun storming the castle."
And with that he disappeared in a yellow cloud of smoke, leaving behind the smell of sulfur.
"Great," I sighed,"How do I turn back into human form?"
(A/N): So yeah, this is the first story I'm actually publishing. Sorry the first part is so short. Also sorry for any grammatical errors. I'm not very good at author's notes so these'll be short. What do you guys think? I'll update when I can. Leave comments and that stuff. Bye :D
