This is one of the many chapters than has some real events and some fake. For example, my parents meeting actually happens, but Adam doesn't exist and he didn't invite my mom to a party. My parents didn't even meet at a party. They met because of their friends being friends. So I am just clarifying that not all of my story is true. I juice up basic details to make the story better.

After driving over 90 mph to get to the party , we finally pull into Adam's driveway. There are over 20 cars in his yard, driveway, and surrounding the house. I have never seen so many people at one place.

"Look over there!" Jessica shouts.

I turn my head to look out my window to notice the she devil and her minions walking in the house. Following them is 4 guys carrying 2 kegs.

"Well," I say, "Looks like this party is going to be one to experi-."

Jessica exits the car before I could finish. I get out right behind her. We started to walk up the driveway when Adam spots us from in the house and runs out.

"Hey girls!" he smiles.

"Hey," Jessica and I wave.

"Come in, I have been waiting for you," he coughed.

"Oh!" I said surprised.

"I'm sorry, I can't believe I just said that," he says while rubbing his hand on the back of his neck,

Before I can say it's ok, he takes his hand and puts it on my waist and guides me into the house. I flinched at his unexpected touch. I jumped. Adam just laughs and repeatedly rubs my lower back.

"It will be alright," he assures me, "Just stick with me."

I wince at the fact of the hottest guy in town saying that to me. The one thing I don't notice though is how Jessica is no longer beside me. I look over everybody for her, and I find her. She is leaning against the wall talking to a jock. Not just any jock. The jock who's name is Eric Johnson.

Eric Johnson is the wide receiver for our football team. Jessica has had the biggest crush on him, ever  since her and Adam broke up. But, I never expected her to talk to him. I don't want to embarrass her or myself so I don't say anything. But, I do give her a look and wink at her.

She walks away from him, then I approach her. I leave Adam without telling him and follow Jessica into the hallway.

"So..." I said.

"So what?" Jessica replies.

"I saw you with Eric," I whisper. "You both looked pretty into it!"

"Well," she huffs, "I guess we were, but he asked me out on a date!"

"Do it!" I shout.

"Be quiet before somebody hears you," she hushes me. "I said yes."

"Good," I whisper, "Well, you go back to him and I will go back to Adam."

She walks away when I finish. I notice her go out by the table with all of the drinks. None of them which are non-alcoholic. She picks up one and chugs it. Then she takes another, and walks back over to Eric.

I am shocked by this. She usually doesn't drink at all. She doesn't like the thought of something bad happening because of her drinking. But tonight she definitely didn't seem to care. I decide to stay out of it. She may be my best friend, but she doesn't tell me her problems.

I just turn back around and walk back to Adam. As I approach him, he gets this giant grin on his face. I finally reach him, and he hugs me.

"Where have you been?" he says worriedly.

I can smell the alcohol on him, so I am wise about my word choice. I decide to take the more settle approach.

"I went to talk to Jessica." I calmly reply.

"Well, next time tell me," he says, "I couldn't live with myself if I lost you forever. With me you are safer."

I get goosebumps all over my body from this. I didn't know if it was the alcohol talking, or him. But hearing my long-term crush saying this to me makes me shiver. I never expected to hear those words slip from his mouth.

I didn't want to make things awkward, so when Adam backed up I told him I was getting a drink. He nods to my reply not thinking about it. Then he realizes what I just said.

"N-N-No,"  he shouts, "Let me get it for you."

"No, I got it," I reply, "I will be right back."

He nods in my direction letting me know he agrees. I walk over to the table. I grab the closest red solo cup and instantly turn around. But what I didn't notice was the guy standing behind me.

I run straight into him spilling both mine and his drink on him.

"I'm so sorry," I reply nervously.

"Don't sweat it," he says, "I should have been paying more attention."

"More like I should have payed more attention," I state.

"It's ok, name is Brandon by the way," he says while he winks.

"Well, hi Br-Br-Brandon," I stutter, "My name is Alex."

When I tell him my name, his eyes get really wide. He smirks. I guess he likes my name, or really dislikes it.

"That's a beautiful name," he smiles.

"Thanks," I say, "I like yours as well."

After that we just start talking. We instantly click. He is so mellow, and not to mention cute. We were probably talking for an hour at least. I ask him questions, and replies then asks me questions in return.

"You're not from here are you?" I ask.

"Nope," he replies, "I go to Pulaski County High School. I can very well see that you go to Somerset."

"How did you guess," I reply sarcastically.

"Maybe we could hang out sometime?" he asked.

"Sure," I smile.

"Well, I got to go," he says, "But, here is my number. Text me."

He hands me a piece of paper and then walks away. I wander around until I find Adam.

"There's my girl!" he yells, "Come here."

I go over to him, and he hugs me. The only thing I smell is alcohol. Pure, straight alcohol. I go to him, and he falls on top of me. Not pushing me down, but I do stumble.

"Let's get you to bed," I motherly say.

He mumbles and I can't understand him, so I just take him up to his bedroom. I lay him on his bed, and I run downstairs to get water and crackers for him in the morning. When I get back upstairs he is laying down and just staring at the ceiling peacefully.

"Thank you," he says.

"No problem," I reply.

"You know I am probably just saying this because I am drunk, but I have had a crush on you since 7th grade. That is why Jessica and I broke up. She found out that I like you," he says.

I shake at this. I have no words to speak. I can't even process what he just said. So I walk out of his room, run down the stairs, and run out the door. I can't take Jessica's car, so I just run. I run all the way to my house.

Then I sit on my porch. I decide to just sleep there.
