I stared through the trees hoping, praying that I would get a glimpse into the past and that maybe if I did I would be pulled back into it. I wanted to be back in the good days, the days you were still around. For a second a very small second I was back in time. We were riding down the road, sticking our heads out the roof of the car as your dad sped down the street. Then the second was over and I was back on the noisy bus. I wanted to relive that second over and over until I had memorized it. I missed the way you smiled, the way you laughed hysterically, the sparkle in your eyes as you spoke. Most importantly I missed the way you would look at me, the look of understanding in your eyes. It wasn't pity, it was a mutual knowing of the cruel world. You understood all I had gone through, you made me feel like I wasn't alone.
