“Scare- bear, we’re worried about you. We’ve given you time, okay?-"I wince at the name. .......Mark used to call me that...
"-You haven’t talked to your other friends in months...Maybe you should talk to someone.”“You want me to go to a shrink?” I say in a unbelieving voice. Because, honestly what does he know about my social life? I laugh and shake my head. He frowns, and continues...,"Yes... I'm worried about......!"
I space out...I wonder if Erik ever thinks about me...
"Don't want you to......."
Can't handle this! Gotta leave...find Mark...
"Start cutting again.....almost ...suicide....dangerous time....can't handle........screaming, screaming every day, all night!..then you.....too much!...can't go backwards....but.." he continues.
No! Stop!! I won't....I can be strong...numb the pain....Cassidy is so awesome, keeping me sane every day.... love her so much....
"Now.... you're isolating.....not healthy!....therapy....better for you, I promise......be okay....Scar?!!" At my name I snap out of it.
“What?” I say innocently. My father sighs, and perches on the arm of the couch. He softens his face, after he looks at me. Why? I'm not weak..I'll never be weak again.
“Look at me,okay?" I nod.
You’re isolating yourself, it’s not healthy..Look at me!" I look up at him.
" I said, do you even talk to Cassidy anymore? Are you gonna start-”“No! No, I'm not.. and yes, I do hang out with her."
"Good, cause you got that same look every time-"
"Not that you'd know, you know cause you're never there, and now I'm going to walk out of this room, go upstairs, and fall the fuck to sleep, okay?” I get up to leave, and walk out of the living room.
As I walk out he says, "Its not my decision. It's your mother's. ”
My dad doesn’t get it, my mom doesn’t get it! Who does? I guess I should tell you a bit about them? I’ll tell you about myself later, I’m not really that important.
My dad is... fast, I mean he
does everything fast. He talks fast, walks fast, the only thing he doesn’t do that’s fast is understand things.Including my brother’s disappearance....
My mom is…well, for one thing she’s obsessed with Lifetime and Law & Order Special Victims Unit. Actually, any crime show, to be honest.
She has this bad habit of using really bad puns, puns that I have to suffer through. Oh, and I forgot to mention she’s gorgeous, brown curly hair that never tangles, hourglass shape. Oh and she’s Chinese, she moved here from China when she was four.
So I’m half-chinese, half-caucasian. Shit! I told you something about myself!
So yeah, their not your typical parents, but you get used to them. The next morning, I get dressed, and creep downstairs. Dad doesn’t go to work until late, so he
doesn’t like to be woken. Mom’s cooking breakfast, again.“Morning, sweetheart.” For the past few years she’s been coming home early and calling me sweet names. She thinks it’ll cheer me up or something. Ever since she lost her job, she's been working the day shift a local hospital.
But, Mark’s disappearance has got all of us… not quite the same. I don’t like to talk about that day. What’s worse though is mom and dad acting like it never happened.
