"I don't know about this Juan," I said. Juan was dragging me along to a rock concert of a band that I didn't even know existed (my music selection was strictly limited to a few bands, anyway its not like the band of whose concert he wanted to go to was even that famous.) Juan works as a reporter for our school magazine and I had to embrace the perks of being his best friend by being dragged along to these events.

"chill, Kat," he said, trying to wipe off my worries. "you'll love these guys. Andy is really..."

"wait a sec- this is the band with Andy?" Juan was always talking about a guy named Andy Biersack said to have the voice of an angel- Wait I don't think angels wear that much ripped leather and tattoo- so yeah, voice of a fallen angel. "are u sure that you're 100% straight?" I teased Juan with a playful punch.

"shut the hell up and follow me," he said taking my hand and leading me towards the backstage door which had a symbol reading 'Black Veil Brides'.

The security guard looked at us up and down. Juan was wearing ripped jeans, black converse and a black batman t-shirt, accessorized with a spiky bracelet and a huge black watch. I was wearing black leggings and a torn black top with black boots and spiky bracelet. We looked pretty much like everyone else here.

"what do u want?" he didn't seem to be very friendly.

Juan plastered a big fake smile. "Juan Wolff and Katerina Black." he said. "representatives of the Metal-End magazine"

The security guard gave one big frown. "how many fakies like u do u think I kicked out today?"

"hey we're not fakies," I argued.

"yeah," Juan said. "I know Andy! Ask him!!"

The huge guard begun pushing us back.

"ANDY!!!" Juan yelled.

Just then (thank God,) the door opened and a guy with really long black hair came out.

"hey, you're Andy's friend right?" he called out. "John?"

The security guard stopped pushing but didn't budge.

"Juan," Juan corrected.

"whatever," the rocker waved his hand and dismissed it. "let them in."

Juan and I walked past the guard giving him a frown and other looks of disapproval as we entered the backstage room.

The place was a typical guy hangout. Clothes, guitars and empty beer cans were everywhere. Four guys where lounging on couches and the floor. The fifth guy who walked in with us sat on a coffee table.

"hey guys," Juan called out. I instantly felt a bit self-conscious, being the only female in the room.

"Juan!" called out a short haired guy with a lip ring. Andy, I thought. "sit somewhere. Is this your girlfriend?"

All eyes turned on me. "uh.. No," I said awkwardly, and sat next to Juan on a black sofa.

Juan got straight into business and started explaining to the members about our magazine, and how we have more than 50% of the mag dedicated to rock music and begun interviewing.

That's when I saw him. Sitting with an electric guitar, with beautiful long straight hair.

He caught my eye and smiled. I smiled back involuntarily, and then hid my face behind my own straight hair. He had an amused expression on his face and raised and eyebrow at me. I giggled softly and looked away.

When I looked at him again, he was still looking at me. he took his phone to his hand and kept it to his ear. "call me?" he mouthed. "no," I mouthed back shaking my head softly. He opened his mouth to reply and looked away with a mischievous smile. He turned to Juan.

"tell us about your friend," he said.

Juan turned to face me and smiled. "Katerina Black," he said. "Kat, for short. Very nerdy. Loves books."

"am not nerdy," I argued, but there wasn't much to prove it. As far as I knew, I had a good score at school and loved my novels than food and water. Plus, my huge nerd glasses and braces did nothing but prove his point.

"cool, I love cats," the guy who was looking at me said.

"its Kat with a K", I corrected him.

"still a cat," he said with his mischievous smile, waving his iphone which had a Hello Kitty phone cover.

I shook my head but could not hide my smile. I love Hello Kitty too.

Just then the mean security guard came in. "show starts in five," he said, giving Juan and me a venomous look.

"you guys better take your seats," Andy said, getting up.

"yeah," Juan agreed. "break a leg guys!"

As I turned to go out with Juan, I noticed that the guy gave me one last and a wink.

***

"dude, one of those guys flirted me." I told Juan.

"which one?" he asked, breezily, taking his seat.

"the cute one," I replied, joining him.

He rolled his eyes. "very helpful description."

I smiled and recalled his face to my memory. "V shaped face, long straight hair with bangs, red eye-make up"

Juan looked at me and frowned. "the one who asked about you?"

"yes," I replied excitedly.

His frown became deeper. "not a good choice Kat."

Now it was my turn to frown. "why not??" I argued.

Juan sighed. "that's Ashley. Ashley Purdy. He's a total player."

I made my fake sad face I put on in our play fights. "come on Juan......"

Juan took my hands in his, and looked at my face. "you're my best friend Kat, I don't want you to get hurt."

"I wont get hurt," I argued. "I can take care of myself."

He kept looking at my face for some time. "I know you can take care of yourself Kat, but-"

And the rest of his words were drowned out by the sound of the Black Veil Brides screaming 'Drag Me to the Grave'. I grinned at Juan to show him that I didn't hear him and just didn't care and jumped to my feet dragging him along with me and begun jumping up and down in rhythm with the music.
