Clay spent the next couple of weeks listening to the tapes. Each tape was harder to listen to than the one before it. Her voice was hard to listen to.

He made it on to tape 11, his tape. By this point in time his eyes were red and had bags under them from his lack of sleep.

It all started with a party. Jessica's party. He kissed her, she kissed back. She fell back on the bed, and he went on top of her, and began kissing her neck.

It was perfect, for the both of them. That was until, Hannah yelled, "Stop it!"

I must've hurt her, the boy thought. But no, he hurt her by leaving. By walking away. He should've stayed. He killed Hannah Baker.

He tried blinking his tears back as he gripped his wrists. They fell down his face as he realized he was gripping onto his wrist so hard they started bleeding.

He had to leave. He had to go anywhere  but there. He got up out of his room and ran out of the house as he yelled "Mom, I'm leaving"

He got onto his bike and riding. He didn't go anywhere specifically, he just rode. He tuned out everything else. As tears blurred his vision he didn't realize there was a car coming straight towards him until there was a long honk.

He quickly turned to try and get on the sidewalk, except he ended up hitting a rock, flipping over, and hitting his head.

The person in the car stopped and got out to make sure he was okay. As the man got closer, Clay saw that it was, as usual, Tony.

"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?" Clay screamed, choking back tears.

"You think you could have changed anything? What does that make you-God?"

"I should have stayed."

"She told you to go"

"I could have said 'I'm not going'"

"She would have told you 'Get the hell out of here'"

" 'No, no I won't go' "

" And when she would have told you to 'Get the fuck out of here. I don't want you here.'"

"I should have stayed, I should have known something was wrong." Clay burst into tears again. " I just wanna see here again, I just want to tell here everything would be alright."
