I fumbled with the key, my hands shaking. Standing on my tiptoes I attempted to heave myself up onto the out of reach frame. Failing, continuously, trying every possible method, I collapsed onto a frustrated heap onto the floor. Giving up hope, my mind started spinning once again, and I passed out onto the floor.
Loud, thumping footsteps woke me. I glanced up to see a figure pacing around the room. I could not make out a face from the dark distance between us, But I slowly crept backwards into the corner to hide. The voice started talking. "You may possibly be quite confused as to why you are here and where you are. I will explain. You are the daughter of Raven and Nixon, Rulers of the Kingdom 'Utonia', I myself am your Guardian. Your parents both died heroically in the war against the Rajion Kingdom. You and your brother Ash, are the only survivors in your distinct bloodline. I have watched you grow up from across the street, waiting for you to come of age. Your 'family' were selected to protect you and train you to become the future queen of Utonia. Now that you have turned 18, you are to rule the kingdom and protect our future. But first, you must first prove yourself worthy of the kingdom, by completing this quest.
"How could you! I have been raised by complete strangers, when my real family and brother have lived an honest and interesting life in the Kingdom I am now to rule? You have watched me grow up, not ever once hinting that I was not to belong? All of the years spent in my bedroom, feeling out of place, when I truly am! Who even are you?" I exclaimed. He came into the light, his face full with deep wrinkles, jett black hair higlighted with grey streaks, and his left eye slightly scarred. "I am your Guardian Pax, I was known to you in your old life as Mr Murphy, the Man who lived in the dark, broken down, out of place house across the street from where you lived." "I gave up years of my life, away from the kingdom, willing to protect you, if the Rajion warriors were ever to come looking for you." "But why? What have I ever done to them?" I questioned. "By you being born, You were the next ruler, therefore you would be the next to protect the kingdom they want so desperately to take over." He explained. "Now you will have more time for questions, but I really have to go, your quest awaits you." "But wait, What is my quest?" "That is for you to figure out, I will give you a hint though, the window is not the only way out." With that he vanished, not a trace left behind.
My thoughts full with new information, discomfort, and betrayal, I assured my mind to focus on the current task at hand. There is a way out of this gloomy, frozen room. I decided to use what I had as tools, the white paper note could be used as a reflector of the small amount of light being let out of the window. Using my newfound tool as my guide, I lurked around the room. Out of the corner of my eye, I just caught sight of a small chunk of rope, sticking out of the floor. Non hesitantly, I turned the key in the padlock, then tugged vigorously on the rope. I was falling, in pitch black, and could not see any light ahead.
