Now that a basic cliché romantic relationship has been established, things need to start looking up for said main character. They will suddenly get straight A+'s, become really popular, etc. etc.
This is usually the part where you can add in random things to make your character look better than they already are. You can also include a singalong if you want.
BUT THEN, PLOT TWIST!!
A common one is that the lover is moving away. Often, there will be a lot of thunderstorms and unrealistic tears. Here you can add a lot of hyperboles (which is a smart people word for exaggerations). An example:
"Her eyes SHINED with tears, as they flowed down her face, causing them to drown and die."
