Today is a very exciting day i kept telling myself. You are about to go into the biggest interview of your life. Hopefully with a executive of the place. The company is called Lexington Bank Industries. It is not only one of the most high paying jobs in the state, but a very rich person works there.

Well i mean obviously because this is the main branch. He is serious, hot, and nice according to my bestfriend and roommate Valentina. She applied but she never even made it to the interview.

Currently i'm rehearsing my answers to the questions the person is going to ask me with Val.

"Have you ever experienced working with money?" Valentina asks me raising one eyebrow in humor.

I chuckle from her face but I quickly recover. "Um.. Well you see I worked and got paid money but I never really worked with it."

She rolls her eyes and puts her hands on her sides. "Kaela you aren't gonna get the job if you answer like that."

I've been friends with Valentina since the middle of elementary school. I can tell she is acting serious. We both are in college now, and if I don't get this job, more than likely we will drop out since we aren't getting any money in. I look at my watch and see my interview is in less than 40 minutes.

"Okay Val I have to go it takes like what 30 minutes to get there?" I ask sarcastically and she smiles her famous smile.

"Make sure to ask a question if they ask." She reminds me and I nod awkwardly. Things will be okay. I feel as if i'm liable for this.

Before I exit my apartment, I glance at my appearance in the full body mirror infront of the exit. I'm wearing a black silky dress with black sandals to match. My hair is wavy with curls at the bottom. Val did my makeup and for the first time in a while,I feel done up. Usually i'd spend days on the couch with just a t-shirt and sweatpants watching tv. Today, is a different day. And i'm going to live it the best I can.

"I'll be back with the car before 5:00. I'm sure the interview won't last 4 hours." I address grabbing the keys on the key holder.

"Use it for how long you like! Just make sure you don't waste the gas because it's my turn to pay for it!" Val shouts back.

I smile to myself in nervousness and exit the apartment. I walk down the stairs that lead to the parking lot and look for the car. As I walk to my vehicle, I start to imagine what this job could supply for me. A nice house and not a trashy complex. My own car and not one me and Val share. And for once, I could go and eat at a nice restaurant. In all honesty, i've only eaten at a classy place one time.

It was for when my pastor took me out to a diner called Miranda's to talk about my baptism. That dinner had to have been $25 a person. At the time I was 11 years old, so I never figured that would be a special day.

Just like today. I know it's a job interview, and everyone usually gets one.The thing is, none of my brothers or sisters have been in one. The company goes through their background history and find drug related violations or suspensions and expulsions from 3 different schools. When I grew up, my parents always thought I was the one child out of 4, who could have a future. All my siblings had all c's or lower. Meanwhile, I had A's and B's.

Today's truth will unfold at the meeting. Am I the child my parents say I am? If I don't receive this job, will I be considered a failure to my family?

These thoughts rush through my conscience as I drive to the company. I'm halfway there and I still have 20 minutes to spare. My track phone starts to buzz and I see it's my mom. I smile a happy smile and answer it. I haven't talked to her in weeks, because we got into a fight about her drug problem. Hopefully, this call will be different.
