Before you guys read Henley's part, just know that it's an explanation and there is no conversation - It's just her dialogue.
Everything : Part i
Henley
Before I start this story, you should know that the way it's .. well, it hasn't ended, not yet anyway. Well, what I'm trying to say is whatever happened with the Huntsmen, it wasn't planned by me.
Sorry seems like too measly a measure for the amount of pain I've caused you. Not just youbut all of them.
Phew .. You can do this Henley.
Oookay.
So - here it goes. My parents were rich once and they didn't earn their money doing normal jobs, they were magicians. Well, my father was the magician and my mother was the assistant. You remember, right after our first big gig, we went out and saw a magicician performing and you and Atlas had to physically stop me from murdering the magician. Well, now you know why. Oh, I'm sorry I'm being vague. Too many people think, too many people think they know the role of the assistant. It's a kink and she's a distraction. My mother taught me the strength of ignorance. Y'know that quote, "Fear is a friend who's misunderstood"? Well, Mum taught me that it's really ignorance who's your most trusted ally. The assistant holds power, alright. The power of balance. As an assistant, one must take advantage of the small-mindedness of one's audience.
I'm wandering off aren't ?
Well- I'm just going to come out and say it- My mother died in a house fire when I was 3. My father had a solo audition for his magic gig and my Mom was working late, so they left me at my cousins place.
Once she had passed, it was like my father became sort of, blurry around the edges. He didn't just lose his assistant, you see, he lost his supporting act - his co-lead. He did the best he could to raise me, with the help of my 2 crazy aunts. They couldn't stand him, but one look at the red of my hair and it was all, "She looks just like Grace"or "Welcome to the family, kiddo".
But one day my father came home happier than I had ever remembered seeing him. He had gotten a job, he told us joyfully.
A job at the Eye.
