Crash! The fancy vase cracked on my head. I streaked towards the closet, jumped up, and hid behind a long brown jacket, my heart beating quickly. I waited as Mr. and Mrs. Tomato rushed into the living room.My owners hadn't seen me doing it, but it still didn't take a detective to figure out who had broken the vase. My owners also smelled like tomatoes. Not sure why.

"Chester!" they cried. Yep, they knew it was me. I knew that I had to get all the water and flowers out of my handsome coat of orange fur, or else I would look even more guilty. Then the dog named Huck came up to the closet.

"Did you crack another vase? Never see a dog getting into trouble like that," he said with a smirk. I opened my mouth to make a comeback, but Chip the puppy had already come to the rescue.

"Well, you track mud in the house pretty often, and I just had an accident in the bed this morning," she said.

"Who's side are you on Chip! You're not a cat, you're a dog, and you should be proud of it!" barked Huck.

"I am, but I believe that cats and dogs can get along together just fine," said Chip.

"Sorry Chip, but I no one will ever be able to get along with this guy," I said, pointing a wet paw at Huck. I leaped out of the closet, only to be chased by Huck. I ran as fast as I could, Huck's barks booming in my ears. I jumped onto the kitchen table, where Huck couldn't follow me... and landed right in the salad bowl. Oops. Well, now that I was already there, I might as well party! I bit down on a juicy tomato and let red liquid seep into my mouth. Yum! Next I sampled a crunchy crouton. I ignored Huck's furious barks. Jealous of my feast, no doubt. Those cucumbers looked tasty enough. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to try them.

"CHESTER, WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" yelled Mr. Tomato. He was looking at me, Chester, the dignified cat that was now covered in salad, water, and flowers. Chip ran into the kitchen to see what was going on, followed by Mrs.Tomato, who was shaking her head at me. I could see a nasty grin spreading over Huck's face.

"I'm sorry pets, but you cause way too much damage in this house. Chester, you break a lot of things. Huck, you make too much mess, and Chip, you're far too old to be having accidents. If you three don't straighten up, we may have to send you back to the pet store," said Mrs. Tomato. "And Chester, you need a bath," she added. My stomach seemed to plummet at the thought of a bath. I hated baths. Huck was jumping for joy at this point. Mr. and Mrs. Tomato were putting on thick rubber gloves. They needed to wear them because the last time they tried to give me a bath I scratched them all over. While they left to start the bath, I hid under the bed.

"Chester, it's bath time!"called Mr. Tomato. "Where is that cat?" Huck knew where I was. He ran over and chased me out from under the bed. Mr. Tomato picked me up. "There you are." He dropped me in the horrible pit of doom. I tried to climb out, but I couldn't. The sides were to wet and slippery. I put out my claws in fight mode. I tried to run away from the water, but it was everywhere. Mrs. Tomato grabbed me and tried to hold me still, while Mr. Tomato quickly scrubbed in some soap. They rinsed me off and took me out of the bathtub. Mrs. Tomato dried off all the water with a warm towel.

"All done, and now you're clean," she said. I went to the kitchen for dinner. Mr. Tomato filled my bowl with cat chow. I also got two treats. One for the daily treat and one for taking a bath. Huck and Chip were already eating.

"They're going to send us back to the pet store! We can't let this happen!" I said to Chip.

"Miff blobeb, uh gimple bluboopin. Gif gah naff meelayer." said Chip through a mouth full of dog food.

"I didn't understand a single word of what you just said." I said. Chip swallowed.

"I said big problem, but simple solution. Fix the bad behavior."
