"Ugh, my brain hurts. Can we take a break yet? Please???" Stefan asked, the pleading apparent in both his voice and eyes.

"Nope. We need to review all of it once again and then highlight some important points in our notes. You want to pass the test, right? And anyway, your brain hurts?! I already had a headache before you came, and now it's developed into a full migraine just from your whining" I retorted, not bothering to look up from a worksheet.

"Sorry about that. But I also want to live long enough to actually take it, and it's not going happen if I die of brain damage! And now, we can officially close our books, relax and enjoy each other's company," to make his point clear, he grinned widely and winked. The sly devil.

I laughed, and then rested my chin in her palm. I kept staring at him until he looked up.

"What?" he asked, puzzled.

"I was just thinking about how we met. And how we've got this far", I confessed with a half smile.

"This far? You mean being friends that bicker all the time?", Stefan asked, pretending innocence.

I laughed out loud and Stefan went on.

"But yeah. It's quite a progression from being your blind date for your junior prom. That was really pathetic. You hated me on sight, and I had only one thing on my mind after I saw you."

"And what was that?" I asked, though I knew what he was going to say.

"To win your heart", he said casually as if it was the most obvious thing in the universe, then he went on."You kept dodging me, so I figured it was time to stop "chasing" you all around. For a while, anyway", he finished, his eyes locked on mine, grinning devilishly.

"For a while?" I asked.

"Oh, yeah. Becoming your friend was only one of the many steps to get myself deep under your skin. You just wait and see. In the end, you will be chasing me not the other way around – as it's been until now," he said, his smile widening even more, if it was even possible.

"Really? And how do you visualize it?" I asked, playing along with his game.

"Oh, you really don't think I'm going to tell you, now, do you? Like I said, just wait and see", he said, winking at me again.

"You are such a pain in the butt sometimes", I said, both amused and annoyed.

"And you just love it."

"Sure, sure. Now go get the popcorn ready while I start the movie", I said, and by that closing both her philosophy books and the subject. Chasing, huh? Definitely not gonna happen, I thought to myself.
