"Eiji! Wake up; you're gonna be late!"

I jolted up from my sleeping place on my desk as papers scattered all over the already covered floor. I could hear my best friend, Derek, laughing at my door. Being a pain in my ass was his favorite job, as he would call it. I gave him an annoyed look before picking up the papers that lay on the floor.

"Still trying to write that presentation?" Derek said as he bent down to help me.

"Yea, it just never seems to come out right. We are practically forcing them to live here even if it is for their safety. How am I supposed to explain that?" I said, looking around my study.

The sensor lights have turned on, signaling it is dark behind my closed curtains. The room is a decent sized room off of my bedroom, and it is in a desperate need of a cleaning. Papers with research material cover the floor. Written on them are those who live on the residence, their power, training, and as much information as we could receive. Maps from all over the world hang on the walls. Different colored tabs scattered everywhere on them - clues we have collected of Gods and God places. I look back at the papers in my hands and my eyes scan over the ID bracelet that all residents wear.

The island that we all live on is what we consider a God place. Meaning it has unique properties. We aren't sure how these places or people get these special powers, but there have been several theories.

The most famous two are: A virus got loose from the government and messed us all us, but the government is keeping quiet about it because obviously, they aren't going to admit their mistake. The other is that the Gods did have something to do with it. Perhaps the children with special powers were descendants of the Gods and something extraordinary happened with the Gods at these places that still have magic. I liked to believe in the latter - something cool about being a half God rather than a mutated virus.

This God place can be completely invisible from all forms of sight except for those that have already been on the island. Another ability is that it can create anything from a person's mind, but it only seems to work for Hero and me.
Derek coughs and I look up to realize all the papers have been picked up while I was caught daydreaming.

"Guess it's time for patrols, huh?" I say, getting up and walking to him.

Derek and I are often mistaken for twins, even though there is no blood relation between us. We both stand at six feet tall and have straight black hair. His being slightly shorter than mine. He has green eyes and I have blue eyes and we're both God kids. Derek can absorb Kinetic energy and use it to propel himself to impressive heights or even create energy blasts while I can only find/decipher what other God powers there are and then enhance or dampen their powers.

"I came to get you before Claire got to the gym. Thought I'd save you from her claws for a day." Derek chuckles as we make our way to the Academy's Gym, where we held a meeting, before patrols, every night.

The Academy consists of several structures surrounded by tall tunneled walls, gates and guard stations. In the back of the Academy stands the main building, which closely modeled a castle and is used as the school, office building and home to Hero, Claire, Derek and myself.

After Hero had found the island he made the school with a slightly more modern feel. There is a total of seven floors, although from the outside there looks to be only four. The basement consists of the kitchen, cafeteria, and several rooms for food storage. The first floor is the Gym, where Derek and I are headed, and the armory. Weapons are rarely ever used, but Hero insisted on having them and learning to use all different types, in case a need ever arose. The second and third floors are classrooms which are open at all hours for children and adults alike while the final two levels are living areas.
