Raymond Reynolds' POV

It was just like old times. Sophie and I were watching an endless number of movies and enjoying the feel of our skin against each other. I know that I still love her. I always have and I always will.

After the third movie, Sophie fell asleep on the couch in my hotel room. I carefully picked her up and placed her on my bed.

I gave her a chaste kiss on her lips, eyelids, and cheeks. I couldn't resist anymore. You could say I was making up for lost time. I wanted her, but I decided to wait. Let her make the decision. Not me.

I missed her, but more than that, I missed being in love with her. I am not going to let her go. Ever. I don't care what we will have to go through; I will keep her with me on a secluded island if necessary. But I don't think she would like that. God, I was already planning our future.

Get a grip, you idiot.

Right now, I had more important things to do, like confronting Ellen. I know my princess will never lie to me. I know Ellen is my best friend, and she wouldn't lie to me either. I hope she admits her mistake. All of this is a mistake, right? Ellen would never do something to hurt me. Of course, she wouldn't. Right?

I've known her my entire life. She cannot do this to me, can she?

Now I am starting to doubt my best friend too. What the fuck is wrong with me?

I crashed next to my princess. I pulled her to me, tucking her head under my chin, placing my arms around her waist. Unconsciously, she placed her hand on my chest. I bet she could hear it thumping under her delicate fingers. She snuggled her face into the crook of my neck and took a deep breath. I watched her the whole time. A small smile stretched across her lips, followed by a sigh.

I got us under the covers and tried to sleep. I was playing with her hair when I heard my phone buzz.

I ignored it.

I didn't want anyone to disturb my moment with her.

It buzzed again. I ignored it again.

After a few minutes, it buzzed again. This time, I picked it up from the bedside table, grumpily about to switch it off when a message popped up on the screen.

Hey, Ray! I'm here finally. I was busy with some of Dad's work, but now I'm finally free. I'll meet you in the cafeteria of the hotel in 15. Cool? Bye. Love you.

~ Ellen

I debated whether I should go meet Ellen or not. My mind was constantly scrutinizing every possibility.

I had to find the truth anyway, right?

I had just started getting dressed when I heard the doorbell. I opened it to find Ellen standing on the other side, smiling as always. I looked into her eyes. They were as chirpy as ever. My heart felt heavy all of a sudden, everything Sophie told me came crashing down. I believe her. I believe my girl.

Ellen was standing in front of me, and I didn't know what to do. How to start. I had so many questions to ask. I was furious with her but also wanted to understand why she did what she did seven years ago.

I had to get the answers.

I couldn't bring myself to return her smile. Everything felt different. There was this constant fear that the truth was going to be worse than I imagined.
