"Now where are you going?" Jasper asked, lowering his red sunglasses.
He was leaning against the wall right next to my door. I wouldn't have notice he was there if I haven't bumped into him. No, that's a lie. Jasper definetly can't go without noticed.
"Um, class?" I answered, raising a little bit the books I was holding with my arms and my almost finished homework for my religion core class. "Where you waiting for me?"
This would be the perfect moment to apologize with Jasper about leaving his party so early and then not coming back. And I asked him if he was waiting for me. Great job Elena. Great job. And you say you don't want to mess things up with him? I suck at anything guy related. But somehow, what had happened after the party didn't seem to matters to Jasper. He didn't seem mad at me, I mean if he's here... and that was something good.
There was something about his gazed that hypnotized me, almost as strong as Harry's power had on me. No, stop! I think I humbled myself enough after mine and Harry's encounter at the music room. I just need to get over him and worried about my own business. I had a lot of problems in my life already, to have to handle with such cocky and obnoxious guy like Harry. But Jasper with just looking at me could make me forget about Harry, classes and everything else. How could one look from Jasper do all that?
With his clear, pale skin and jet-black hair, Jasper was different from any guy I'd ever known. He exuded confidence, and not just because he knew everyone, and how to get everything, before I had even figured out where my classes were. And I'm not the newbie here.
"Class, eh?" Jasper yawned dramatically, which made me laugh. He was blocking the entrance, and something about the amused way his mouth was set made me want to know what wild idea he had up his sleeve. There was a canvas bag slung over his shoulder, and a disposable espresso cup between his fingers. He pressed stop on his iPod, but left the earbuds dangling around his neck. Part of me wanted to know what song he'd been listening to. The playful smile visible only in his intense blue eyes dared me to ask.
Jasper skimmed a sip off the top of his coffee. Holding up his index finger, he said, "Allow me to share my motto about classes: Setter never than late."
I laughed again, and then Jasper pushed his sunglasses back up on his nose. The lenses were so dark, I couldn't see even a hint of his eyes. "Besides." He smiled, flashing me a white arch of teeth. "It's just about lunchtime, and I've got a picnic."
Lunchtime? I hadn't even had breakfast yet. But my stomach was growling and having a picnic with Jasper seemed much more tempting and appealing than being in a boring lecture of Music History.
I nodded at the bag he was holding. "Did you pack enough for two?"
Putting his hand on the small of my back, Jasper led me across the commons, past the library and the dismal dorm. At the metal gates to the cemetery, he stopped.
"I know this is a weird place for a picnic," he explained, "but it's the best spot I know to dip out of sight for a little while. On campus, anyway. Sometimes I just can't breathe in there." He gestured toward the building.
I couldn't say the same, to be honest. I've been living here for years because that was supposed to be the one place where I could be safe. I don't really know much outside the conservatoire. I wished I could though. Sneak out and explored but leaving the feeling of being haunted behind the conservatoire's bars. I wouldn't have thought after that party last night, he'd feel suffocated and he had just got here. Or that he'd pick me to share the feeling with.
Well, a picnic at the cementery? This will be interested. I decided to go with it. "Just promise to save me if any statues topple over." I said laughing.
