CYRUS' POV
The school kids ran around the streets in their uniforms most likely just returning from the academy. They laughed and jumped and played with each other. The sun was still shining as bright as ever of course, we wouldn't be the Southern Nation if it wasn't.
It was three thousand years after the Great Eradication war. Three thousand years after people with magical abilities invaded the world and eradicated the world of earth and made a new world for us. Wizards, witches, shape shifters and so on lived in unison but the world was still divided.
The world had been desperate into the four main continents. The North, the South, The West and The East. The North was a continent of ice and snow, of riches and royalty. It is also a content of stuck of people who couldn't care less about anyone who wasn't one of them. I still don't understand why they're the ruling nation.
And then there's the Westerners. They're a Nation of peace and quite. Nothing exciting ever really happened there and they all lived a boring happy life where they followed the same routine every single day. That's what my friend Hannah once told me. She wasn't really into peace and quite all though she was born there.
The East, a Nation of warriors and war. They thirst for war and they live for war. Their citizens were trained at young ages to fight and defend themselves. Thy aren't really a magic based continent, in fact quarter of their people are humans. Although it was a place of war humans who survived the The Great Eradication went the west to find shelter and home.
Last but most definitely not the least The South, that's where I'm from. Most of us here are normal people with special abilities. We're not peace based or war based or stuck up and rich based we just live a balanced life.
My mother and father fought in the Great Eradication War but sadly my mother didn't make it out alive. I was left with my dad and my two older brothers Henry and Marcus Loane. After my mums death my dad is very overprotective of us and does his best to make our lives the best. He works as a general in the Southern Army and from time to time is sent to fight battles and wars with other continents and rogue humans who do not want to confide to the way the world is today.
My ability is that I can manipulate objects to change their state if matter. I basically control elements. I can make water ice and I can make ice rock. I can turn wind into a halo storm and I can turn rain into a tornado. Everyone's gifts are endless and in different stages of your life you grow and get new powers as you grow. But of course the Northerners found away to mess with that system. The Myers Academy for The Gifted. I hate them so much.
The Myers Academy basically trains gifted people and at each stage of development they give them new powers like it's something to be bought not earned. Professor Myers Coll is an incredibly gifted magician who can take away people power and give people power. He's the headmaster and founder of the school obviously and of course he's from the North.
They only allow special and worthy petiole into their school but I honestly think they only allow rich people with large bank accounts into their school which is the only reason why Sharaara Hunters is in that school cause she most definitely is not worthy of it. Don't get me wrong the school is an amazing school but Shararra Hunters is not amazing. Her dad is the right hand man to King Garson. His name is Michael Hunters, a very important man who doesn't leave his palace sized home without at least eight guards and neither does his daughter Shararra.
Shararra is dark skinned with beautiful long white hair. She's always in expensive clothes and expensive shoes. Her nails are always very long and decorated and her makeup is flawless.
Then there's me. Cyrus Loane. Long chestnut colored hair, brown eyes, a narrow nose and clothes that don't even measure up to Shararra. I've only met her once though. On May 28th we remember that day as the day we won the Great Eradication War and we celebrate it in the North at the kings castle once a year. I was only ten the last time I went and it was not pleasant to meet her. Being ten I was excited to meet her and see the country again. Meta-Polis is the largest country is the North and its where King Garson's palace is. I sat right across from Shararra and she was nothing less of a spoilt brat. She spoke to the servants anyhow and I think her father was scared if her with the way he obeyed her every single command.
I tried to talk to her, even stretched my arm out to shake hers but she stuck her tongue out at me and threw a fork at me. Thank goodness a guard was there to catch the for or I could have died and I wouldn't have gotten a fair trial since she's basically a princess."Cyrus come get something to eat," yells who I assume is Henry from the inside of our two story home. I run up into the house to see everyone on the table, my dad at the head of the table, my two brothers at the sides of the table and me at the other head of the table where my mother normally sat.
I plop down to my seat and say a greeting to my father " Morning Dad,"
"Morning Cyrus-Mae, did you sleep well?," he asks
I nod my head and push my self and my chair further close to the dining table.
"Where you outside in the pool again?," asks Marcus, my other brother. My family says I love to swim just like my mum. I'm compared to her a lot and from the pictures, I look just like her.
"Yes. It was really hot when I woke up this morning so I decided to take a dip," they all nod and my dad proceeds to say grace. After grace we dig in and I couldn't help but notice my brothers and father giving each other secretive looks. They're hiding something from me and I want to know what. So I asked.
"Ok, what's going on?You guys have been looking at each other all funny and want to know what's happening ?"
"I think we should just tell her. I mean it's not a big deal anyway," says Henry as he goes back to eating.
"Don't say that Henry it's a very big deal. You need to start taking things more seriously!," says Marcus. Marcus is the older brother and has always been very strict after our mum passed away. It hit him the hardest. At the the time I was too young to understand that I would never ever see my mum again.
"Marcus stop yelling and Henry you really do need to start taking things more seriously if you wanna be a General one day," says Father with his hands laced together then he turns to me "Cyrus, I want you to understand that my hands are tied and if I could fix thus I really would ," his voice filled with sorrow.
Now I'm confused , what does he want to change? And why are his hands tied?
He continues "I got a message from the king yesterday. King Garson. He says he wants you to attend The Myers Academy. He wants you to be packed and ready by today at three thirty and that there will be a limo sent to pick you up with two guards accompanying you. Now I don't know why or what he wants from you but it would be well advised that you go. He say if you decide not to go he will strip me of my position as a general and he will take away everything we own.,"
Im shocked, speechless in fact. What does the king of the North want from me that he's sending a car and guards to take me to the Academy. I want to say I don't want to go but for the sake it my family I must.
"Was the letter signed by the council?," is all I could ask. A king is a king, yes. He is the highest authority in the North and the North basically rules every where else but the king cannot make one decision concerning anything in another continent unless it is signed by the council.
"Yes. Mason Hynes signed it, General Cory Ross signed it, Princess Kara Raine signed it and Michael Hunters signed it. You can't escape this," he sighs. Of course Michael Hunters just had to have signed it.
"I'm gonna mis you gu-" but I get cut off by Henry.
"Wait you're really leaving?!."
"Yes I have to,"
"Dad, tell her not to go. Don't let her go!,"
"I'm sorry son but it's not in my hands,"
Hunter slumps back against his seat and pushes his plate to the middle if the table to show he's lost his appetite. Then he gets up and storms out of the dining room with Father and Marcus yelling at him to get back, but he doesn't listen. He never really listened to anyone anyway.
