My name is Dab Howlter. I am a 16-year-old boy with a big curly mane and a thin, tall body. Dad says I got that from my Grandfathers. I never met them, but they were always there helping me make decisions and teaching me things.

My best friend's name is Evan Pancakes. He is a 15-year-old boy with features I have never truly understood, all I know is that they are beautiful. Dad says he looks more like his mum. She is a strange woman that shows up at our door sometimes, dad says that has been happening since before he even got married to mum. Evan's dad is always absent. He, unlike the rest of his family, doesn't like us very much.

Well, now that I've introduced the two main characters of the story, let's start the story of how I fell for my childhood friend; and how he became the love of my life.

"Stay still" I told him. He let out a giggle as he looked across the street to his own house. "Can you lean on the owl slide?" I asked as my pencil sketched his face.
We were on the roof of my house, our backs to the giant "owl slide" as my grandfathers had once called it.
He leaned over, I sighed seeing how beautiful he was. The sunset light hit his face, turning it a bright orange colour.
"Is it done?" He asked me, tired of not being able to move.
"Almost," I replied, sketching the last details.
I looked at him, my pencil stood still on the paper, "Done," I told him as I admired the glorious smile that formed on his face.
"Can I look?" He asked me, I realized that I was clutching the sketch book close to my chest, nobody could see my drawing.
"S-sure" I smiled at him and turned the book around.
He gasped, taking my book with his delicate hands, "You improved so much when I was in San Myshuno!"
I blushed, my cheeks turning a soft crimson colour.
"Can I keep it?" He asked. I nodded without thinking and laid back on the back of the owl slide. Across the street I could see Eliza, Evan's mum, making dinner in the kitchen. She was alone in the cold house that was my neighbours'.
Evan ripped the paper out of the book and slid off the roof. I looked down at him and laughed loudly. "Did you seriously land on the llama hedge?!" I asked as I chuckled. He laughed along with me as I slid off, landing perfectly on my feet, "My granddads will kill you." I said, helping him off the now ruined hedge.
The laughing ceased.
Evan didn't believe in my grandfathers. His parents had told him that one day my dad just popped next to them and built his house. My mum also said that, but I didn't trust them. I was certain my granddads where there with me.
I shook my head and opened the front door to my house. When I walked inside the first thing I saw was my dad making a drink at the bar, my mum was trolling the forums on the computer.
"Hello Evan! How are you?" Asked my dad, making my mum turn around to greet him as well.
"I'm good, Mr. Howlter! How are you two?" My friend asked.
Mum smiled at him, both my parents loved Evan, "We're great sweetie, how are your parents doing? Are they better?"
Evan shook his head, "They are fading apart quicker by the moment, I feel like the only reason they aren't divorced yet is me."
Evan was now sitting on the couch, looking at Jonathan, our fish who had a surprisingly long life-span.
"That's rough, boy." Dad said, "remember if you ever need to get away you can sleep here for a night." I joined Evan as he thanked my dad for the offer.
Suddenly I remembered something I had been waiting to tell everyone in this room for years, I gulped loudly.
"Are you okay Dab?" Evan asked with a concerned look.
I bit my lip, "Yeah, umm"
All eyes were on me, I knew that it would be worth, but no words left my lips.
"Are you alright sweetie?" My mum asked, worriedly coming towards us.
I took a deep breath, "I'm fine mum, it's not a big deal. I just need to tell you something."
My heart beat as fast as a cheetah running in the wild, my lips were tightly pressed together.
"What is it, Dab?" My dad asked, also approaching us.
"I-I'm" I stuttered, coming out was harder than I thought, "Gay"
